I'll shoot Bret some bail here. There was actually a logical reason for Bret to do that move. Instead of being outnumbered by two bigger, stronger opponents, Bret tried to sneak attack the Undertaker and take away the numbers advantage. It made sense.
Bret's sneak attack dive wasn't THIS phony bullshyt:
