they are in a better position to negotiate a ceasefire now than they were before...

negotiating before a defacto stalemate would have completely obliterated their bargaining power

At the bolded part - It's already starting to happen.

Don't get me wrong, I side with Ukraine in terms that they have a right to defend themselves and their territorial sovereignty and integrity. However, the amount of propaganda that The West was doing for Ukraine while ignoring the fukkery within Ukraine (pre and during the war) was shocking.

Ukraine put down a foreign backed separatist movement in the Donbas. People die in separatist movements.

maybe. sometimes i read things that imply america was talking to russia the whole time without even involving zelensky until the americans encourage him to get involved. if they have done that, then who knows what the terms were, but if true, then it means zelensky is the least important person in the discussion no matter what he does.

it's also possible that zelensky may burn through men at too fast a rate or that russia gets a second wind and attacks with renewed strength later. in terms of resources, zelesnky is at a disadvantage over time.
