If he restructures all government agencies to have only his cronies then by midterms it will be too late. In order to undo this corruption the next president and/or congress would have to get rid of all these people in these agencies and restart as well.
This sets a terrible precedent. In the future we will see this happen with successive presidents hiring and firing federal employees through underhanded means to establish control via loyalty. Trump preaches merit but he rewards only loyalty to him and his cause. This is not democracy. Democracy encourages dissenting opinions to be heard

The system doesn't have to go. It needs to enhanced. The laws need to be enforced. The things Trump and Musk are doing are illegal. Granted some things have been done via loopholes. Those need to be closed. If we make it through to the midterms and house and senate is able to flip blue due to this fukkery, congress needs to draft laws expeditiously like Trump has done with these executive orders to fix this mess. The Legislative and Judicial branches are supposed to be a check on the executive branch. They need to do their jobs!

Maybe it's too late for all that though I don't know how we can realistically fix this without it getting ugly

Not even that a lot of CIA would take the buyout then go work for Private Intel companies making 8 times their salaries.

Problem with that is you’re always gonna need intelligence so you’re gonna overpay the 3rd party contractors forever.

Worse is that the federal government has to select and train these people before they can leave to be contractors.
