The one man who was gonna give him a 4 year deal got fired two months ago.

Not sure of KP's market...

I predicted in the Wiz thread that Porzingis was the biggest loser from Tommy getting fired. The new CBA was the nail in the coffin.

He will get paid.

Maybe he gets 4 years 120 million, idk

He can be signed and traded but that has to wait til free agency so he cannot be part of a trade involving a 2023 draft pick
Porzingis isn't getting that much from the Wizards or in free agency. If he was there wouldn't be talk about him opting in. Maybe if the Blazers trade for him and extend to keep Dame happy, that's the only way IMO.

Beal situation is the mixture of everything. Supermax contract, a no trade clause, the new CBA, etc. The guy of his talent going for cheap dirt is just amazing. We will see a lot of teams like the Wizards make these moves moving forward, even with normal max contract situations. Again, I have no idea how badly the NBPA fukked up in the meetings. There are a lot of cheap ownerships throughout this league and they get richer while the players get hurt.
Nah I don't think we'll see front offices making supermax offers to Beal level players anytime soon. Wiz ownership and GM is straight garbage and content with being a middling team. That backfired though since team was still bad. Beal contract is kind of like the Gobert trade, probably won't be replicated soon. Especially with the new CBA.

Typically when there’s another team that comes late to the party, that team winds up being the target all along.

Would personally want Porzingis instead of Beal if I were Phoenix but if they can get him for CP3/Shamet they’d pretty much have to do it

There’s a correlation with market size but it’s not one to one.

Cleveland has paid more luxury tax dollars in their history than Boston, Philly, Chicago, Atlanta & Houston combined. Portland & OKC have paid more than Boston, Philly & Chicago combined. It’s about ownership.

The Clippers used to avoid the tax like the plague before Ballmer bought the team from Sterling. Phoenix was known for being cheap and cutting corners under Sarver

And comparing to baseball is comparing apples to oranges because of the difference in spending on free agency. Those teams with sky high payrolls typically aren’t those who build organically. The Mets have the highest payroll and their 5 highest paid players were all free agent signings
It doesn't need to be one to one, the correlation is enough.

It's not apples to oranges because the pattern is clearly showing where team owners are based that are spending money. Free agency doesn't matter. A capless NBA would be big markets buying free agents just as hard or more. Most team owners are regional powers who establish or buy a team in their area.

No team owner really wants to pay half a bill to field a team, but when one does, we'll see where they are. I doubt it'll be OKC, but we'll see in 2026 when those ninetyleven assets are ready to be taken care of. Or how long Kroenke pays to keep the window open for Denver.

If you think the wizards are gonna get back a great package for beal you haven’t been paying attention

Between his contract and the fact that it’s a no trade and he can dictate whenever he’s going, you’ll be lucky if it’s much more than a salary dump

He ain’t getting $36M next season if he opts out

Breh The Unicorn will get that Gordon Hayward pale skin 4 year $130 million deal. Had his best season of his career entering his prime and he’s a 7 footer that shoots nearly 40% from 3. You acting like he Middleton or something.
