Just don’t get this from Chicago’s perspective of not trying to get any draft capital from a team who stockpiles picks like nobody’s business. Especially when both of these guys are on opposite ends of the spectrum value wise. Coming off OKC’s playoff run Giddey’s value couldn’t be any lower, especially with the off court stuff he was dealing with. Though I like his upside if he’s gonna be the primary PG. As for Caruso his value couldn’t be higher, especially given what we just saw with Boston winning is that they’ve got guys like White and Holiday to do the dirty work and make winning plays.

They didn't get to hoard picks by giving them away in deals. Last time they traded a pick, it was to get one back that was down the road but could appreciate in value. The Dieng trade was 3 awful firsts with heavy protection for a lottery pick. Presti ain't consolidating til he needs to. If Chicago wanted a pick based package, it wasn't gonna come from OKC and they weren't gonna use picks to attach to Giddey. You attach picks to dump bums like Johnny Davis or a really bad contract; Giddey is neither.

Once Giddey's off the court situation was done being investigated, that part of it made him less toxic.

and Caruso's value was higher a year ago when he had 2 years left on a good deal. Now he's an expiring.

Analysts and the consensus is panning this trade. AK must really think their development staff can improve Giddey's shot. Giddey's advanced stats are not bad either, so the idea that Chicago is going to extend him for cheap is not happening with him approaching a "prove it" year.
I genuinely believe he wants to stealth tank but knows Reinsdorf wouldnt do it. So field a team that will be bad, but on paper can be sold to ownership as competitive for a play in spot

Chicago Bulls just can't get it together ever since Mike retired.

I get it, this move means they are going into rebuilding mode, but to be unable to get at least one draft pick in this deal is ridiculous. OKC has so many of them they won't be able to just draft everyone and sign them on their team. OKC needed Caruso more than Chicago needing Giddey. An additional pick was a must.

Conflicting statements and reporting out of Chicago has me uncertain what level of support AKME has from ownership in terms of going that route.

I could see them having a Jazz like season from a year ago when they traded away Rudy and Mitchell. Where they played well initially then by the deadline another trade was made and resting core guys later on became a thing.

The scenario I'm envisioning is LaVine being that deadline trade chip this season... They just need him to showcase that he's fully back in order to get something for him.

If they bring DeMar back, Giddey's agent should request another trade

If Giddey's the trash player the NBA universe thinks he is, shouldn't it be a struggle for him to get paid?

Better question: If Giddey's in this draft, where would you slot him?
in this draft? first guard off the board that's no a brainer. at the same time, he lost his spot to another rookie from a better class this same year so that's not really a point worth making lol

either way, if he shines he has to get paid next year and that's a problem for chicago too by own their logic.

Who would even want him in a possible trade?
After this past season, probably no one.

He was rumored to be on OKC's radar early last season tho. They needed and still need to add rebounding and size to their team

maybe he plays the 2 so SGA can be the real point guard. Jdub at the 3, Dort at the 4 (he was the 4 last season), and Chet at the 5

I worry that SGA would hamper his game being the main point guard. Like Anthony Edwards being the primary ball handler in the playoffs because Connelly underperformed. It took away from his scoring and made him inefficient

IMO the Thunder should be looking for a starting point guard so SGA can be a full time Shooting guard

this is a dumb trade for chicago. giddey played like shyt in the playoffs and that's who you want on your team?

warriors should've stepped in and offered moody and a first because that's better than giddey.
Bulls were scouting Kiddey and saw him as the lead guard/playmaker that they've been missing since Zo went down. Moody and Kumimga don't check that box. I like both of those guys especially with picks included, but the Bulls brass must think Giddey is an All-Star level talent in the right system
