Breh all I have seen during the Trump campaign was "immigrants, treason, dogs and cats, Haitians, and gays". I haven't seen shyt about the rising inflation, crippling school systems, failing infrastructure, or better economic approaches.
Almost as if people are so demonically selfish and spiteful, that they would rather the country hang itself, than break bread with fellow brethren. As I said countless times, this shyt will backfire because the ones that rooted for the bloated asshead will have to bury their loved one because of a Trump policy.

I’m not saying all grants, loans, and assistance were a waste of money, because some of it actually went to good causes, but the longer this is paused, the worse it gets for some.

Indeed. I know several people (including a family member) who work at various relief agencies; they aren't even allowed to give out food and blankets (to people who are here legally) with the latest order.
The issue here is that much of this was already promised and in the pipeline. It's one thing to cut off future agreements, but it's another to leave people stranded when they've already been set up to fail.
This is negatively affecting SIVs and legitimate refugees, such as hunted/persecuted Christians.
For example, people can no longer receive the already-allocated funds for things like rental assistance. Agencies have already walked them through signing leases and getting ready to find work, but can no longer help with that. This harms the people renting homes (edit: and landlords, who are often people with a spare home) and is essentially going to heighten the homeless problem. And keep in mind that these refugees have to repay their travel loans. For non-SIVs, they aren't given free gifts. Just an interest-free six-year loan.
I support slowing/stopping immigration until we sort out the issues, but going back on our promises and leaving people in the streets isn't how we make America great again.

It's not. One of my family members works in resettlement. They can no longer release the funds (a loan) that were already allocated.
Edit: To be clear, I'm okay with us mostly shutting off immigration until we can work out a good plan and revamp the system. But I'm not okay with screwing over legal immigrants who are already here.

Yes -- many friends of mine that are running cancer trials had to pause their trials for cancer patients. I'm ALL for cutting out the grift but this may really backfire if not done skillfully.

America is going to suddenly realize how many Americans are being paid by the federal government. It goes far beyond the millions of federal employees.
I know of a local university where the employees might not get paid because they were planning to draw down a federal grant yesterday to avoid bankruptcy. Now they can't do that.
