Raleigh by way of Crooklyn
I've also heard Chris Peterson (Washington) might be interested in making a move to the SEC. He was apparently a backup option for Tennessee if Gruden backed out. With Gruden going to Tennessee, Peterson could end up at A&M.

That's interesting; I had heard that the main reason he stuck around at Boise for so long was because of the hospital. He has a son with a particular medical condition, so anywhere he went would have to have a really good children's hospital, which apparently UW has. Don't know about UT or UF, although I'm sure they have great medical centers.

Not about how much money you have, its about how you spend the money.
Its a joke to think Gruden who has every personality and professional trait you don't want for a college coach will take UT to the next level. This is a worse version of Charlie Weiss going to Notre Dame.
UT would be better served going after Chris Peterson from Washington, David Shaw from Stanford , Bill Clark from UAB , Neal Brown from Troy, MIke NOrvell from Memphis, Scott Frost, or Charlie Strong

He's apparently the backup plan. He reached out to them and if Gruden backs out, they'll probably go after him.

Right now Gruden is the #1 choice and according to most he's already agreed and is now putting together a staff.

Only reason this hasn't been announced is because they don't want to take attention away from the players and coaches who are still there preparing for LSU.

This signing is going down like Urban Meyer to Ohio State in 2011. Expect nothing official until next week or after the Vandy game.

But the insiders who cover Tennessee are saying all the heavy lifting has already been finished. The entire Tennessee contingent was down in Tampa last night getting the contract details hammered out. Some former players have already been made aware that its a done deal.

Nothing official will come out until possibly Monday next week (if Tennessee loses to LSU). If they miraculously win, then it'll be after the Vandy game when Gruden is announced.

There is no mention of this deal anywhere

That's cause the mainstream media is in the dark. This guy (who has broken other stories this year related to Tennessee football) has been on top of it.

He's the one who said on local radio here at Tennessee that the contract is 7 years $71 million dollars.

They willing to pay that $40 mil (prolly will get that lowered but still) buyout? :damn:

Frost or Taggert to FSU would scare me big time

Jimbos buyout is 40 milly if FSU fires him, but if A&M wants Jimbo his buyout would be much more smaller I think I heard it was actually around 5 million

I know you ain't fall for this :heh:

Media is finally catching on it right now: Report: Tennessee AD John Currie Flew To Tampa Bay To Pitch Jon Gruden

The contract was agreed to last night. The entire UT contingent was down in Tampa. All that's left now is for Gruden to assemble a staff.

Out of respect to the players and coaches preparing for the LSU game, no accoucement will be made until next week (if they lose). If they miraculously beat LSU then the announcement most likely won't happen until after the Vandy game.

What's your source on Gruden being a done deal?

What's your source on Gruden being a done deal?

Plugged in local media like these guys. Report: Tennessee AD John Currie Flew To Tampa Bay To Pitch Jon Gruden

Also on the Tennessee message boards there is big money booster with connections who posts and he said two nights ago that Wednesday night was the big night. Then last night there was the news breaking about the Tennessee AD and others heading down to Tampa to formally offer Gruden. Then some of the plugged in sources said the contract was signed and it was a done deal. Then you had former Tennessee players all over Twitter celebrating.

Something big happened last night. And now we're just waiting for when the formal announcement will be made.
