Agreed and I would go after Mullen or Frost if im them and Chip too if we pass on him. I like Chad Morris but think he's A&M bound.

Tenn like us, the fans that is, want a splash hire after two non descript coaching hires soni can see why they gassin themselves up over Gruden. It was tough tryna trick myself that we landed a lick with Muschamp and McElwain but i damn sure tried :mjcry:

I was hanging out on the A&M boards because I love the chaos of the coaching carousel, and they seem to believe there's a chance they can get Jimbo Fisher to leave FSU.

They willing to pay that $40 mil (prolly will get that lowered but still) buyout? :damn:

Frost or Taggert to FSU would scare me big time

Gruden is a terrible coach for college, he is not a developer or teacher, he is a ego maniac so I doubt he would be great at developing or maintaining a staff, seeing that he couldn't do that at Tampa. Offensively the game has passed him by in the NFL, let alone the college level, he isn't a recruiter, I doubt he would have good relationships with boosters. I just see no benefit of him, paying him 10 mil when you have to pay Butch Jones 8 mil when he has proven nothing at the college level.

There are better college level coaches they could poach than going after him.

Tennessee is flooded with money. They make more money off football than Alabama while spending less than half of what Alabama does.

They're finally spending all that money now FOR ONCE.

I've also heard Chris Peterson (Washington) might be interested in making a move to the SEC. He was apparently a backup option for Tennessee if Gruden backed out. With Gruden going to Tennessee, Peterson could end up at A&M.

He's a terrible talent evaluator

Good luck tenn

In college, if you stack up enough 5 stars it don't matter how bad your evaluations skills are. You will end up with 50% of them being NFL players.

Gruden will kill it in recruiting. He'll also assemble a top notch staff because of his connections.

No chance he fails.

He will fail, he'll try to run the wco in college and fail like his ex o-cord in Nebraska

Can we start that neg train

This is happening. Former Vols players were going crazy on Twitter last night. Apparently Fulmer is part of the negotiations and many think he let it slip to some of his former players that they had Gruden signed. That them led to a cascade of tweets of guys celebrating while saying they know something that they can't say right now.

This is going down. However, nobody knows the timeline for the announcement. Could be as early as tomorrow. Or more likely Sunday-Tuesday next week.

Actually some of the insiders are reporting he has developed his own version of the spread offense that he's looking to utilize.

He hasn't just been sitting on his ass the last 9 years. Dude is a workaholic. Many have reported that he still wakes up early in the morning and breaks down tape. He's been thinking about his return to coaching for a long time. He's been preparing.

Don't expect to see the same ole stuff he did before. He's been working on new shyt.

I think so too. maybe not fail but he prolly won't achieve much. Gruden needs a vet qb who can read defenses and make quick decisions for his wco to work

he was never good at developing a young qb from scratch, and that's what happens in college. gruden is good if your team needs a final push in offense department, he isn't someone who can just build shyt up from ground up

Your believing too hard, some guys can evaluate talent and most can't

He's going to make tenn even worse by the time he gets fired and you can quote me on that

Not about how much money you have, its about how you spend the money.
Its a joke to think Gruden who has every personality and professional trait you don't want for a college coach will take UT to the next level. This is a worse version of Charlie Weiss going to Notre Dame.
UT would be better served going after Chris Peterson from Washington, David Shaw from Stanford , Bill Clark from UAB , Neal Brown from Troy, MIke NOrvell from Memphis, Scott Frost, or Charlie Strong

:patrice: I just hope this goes through and another coach ain't going to have to deal with this if it ends up being false. I know they were looking at Kacy Rodgers from the Jets but I definitely ain't trying to see another breh get done like they did Counzo before he even starts cause he ain't a big time name.

Check the title.

News just broke on the contract details.

Trey Wallace (a radio guy in Tennessee who has been on top of this story from the beginning) says the contract is for 7 years at $71 million dollars.

Over $10 million a year. :whoo:
