It's different than a small employer vs employee or average person.

Puff was forced to settle by major corporations, publicly and private companies. There was a significant business interest that was impacting investors, equity holders and executives. Companies were named as defendants in the suit, insurance policies were triggered, company value was eroding. He was forced to settle even if he wanted to fight it.
