As someone who has a half latin wife, I have watched a lot of Spanish cable tv. You guys underestimate Latin production values. I can assure you they can hire similar caliber guys to shoot and produce the show, and those actors chosen are trained veterans. If the writing is strong (and if they have English subtitles) there's no reason this can't be a dope show.

They could but they probably won't . :yeshrug: it shouldn't look like a novela

oh I guess that why decided to go with a all Mexican cast :ehh:

They decided to go with an all Mexican cast because it's being adopted for the Latin American market. That's like asking why did they go with an all American cast for the American version of "The Office". Gee, I dunno, because that's who it's being adopted for?

:wtf: at this being confusing to you.

I need to explain something.

It's not that I think it'll look cheap. I'm sure it'll look professional.

The problem is, who is the Spanish equivalent of Michael Slovis? Because half of the look and feel of "BB" is the cinematography. And even if Mexico had an equivalent to him, is he working on this show? Probably not.

The same can be said for Vince Gilligan. Who is their top show runner over there? Who is their David Porter? Or even Michelle MacLaren? Is the guy playing Walter Blanco their version of Bryan Cranston? Can he pull off a scene like this:

If they had the very best people in their respective fields working on the show, I could understand. But if even one is off, then there's very little chance it'll be as good.

You make some good points :patrice: Gillian and the ridiculous attention to detail like in mad men with weiner are what drive the show creatively and then the Cranston Paul etc elements also pull off a perfect Storm . At this point in the show people are so divided (in a good way ) on Walt and it takes a special kind of chemistry to pull that off .
It's different than the sopranos where I doubt most people wanted tony killed since his whole world was corrupt while instead Walt is diving deeper and deeper into villainy both out of necessity and hubris .
And to top it off we all take different things out of the show like Gillian said last season several times how he sees Walt as this monster and in the season thread we debated this like the whole season lol . And the way gillian changed the story and show as it progressed when he saw better options with jesses becoming a costar instead of dying early , the Twins , gus etc .....Sorry to ramble but as my favorite show it'll take alot to make a adaptation

Vince Gilligan is kinda crazy. He's spent an hour deciding what color nail polish Skylar should wear. He's told the sound guys to edit a scene because he didn't like how a bed sounded when someone sat on it.

I dunno if this new guy is like that. Probably not. Most people aren't. But that crazy shyt is what makes "Breaking Bad" what it is. All the shyt I mentioned. Michael Slovis is another example. He shoots the show on 35mm film, which is unheard of nowadays. It gives texture to the colors. Not to mention he does weird shyt most people don't notice, like he's slowly leeched all the light out of the show as Walt has gotten darker and more villainous.

Is the new cinematographer going to do that? Probably not.

Univision has permission from Sony/AMC to remake "Breaking Bad" for the Latin American markets.

:dwillhuh:

I don't even know what to say about this. The main character will be named Water Blanco. :beli:

No I'm not joking.

This is the new Jesse:

The only upside to this is Skyler, Marie, Jane, etc. will all probably be replaced with big tittied Spanish chicks. :ahh:

Fred.

A remake would make it more re-watchable if they tone down the c*nting and amp up the t*ts on Skylar/Marie

Fingers crossed, they keep the principal:ahh:.

Sheeeit if it got subtitles :shaq:

Listening to the breaking bad podcast had me like :mindblown: so much thought goes into the show (like skyler in the pool and the use of blue etc) and then the changes they make when writing a episode or editing ( the gun noise with walts watch , the cars ) such ridiculous detail :leon: it can't be matched easy and lol I could see Vince (learning Spanish if he doesn't already know it ) and trying to run this one too and figuring how voluptuous he wants Spanish skyler to appear scene to scene and shyt

I know people who are straight from Juarez, and still have family over there. I've mentioned this before.

Trust me when I tell you that they do not give a single solitary fukk about a white character taking over the Mexican drug game on a fictional TV show. They kinda got more pressing real life issues to deal with.

:leon: so it matters but it doesn't at the same time :wow: please bless me with more insightful jewels :lupe:
