August 11th. There has been a few articles, info, interviews, etc. about it but I wasn't sure where to post them because it's too early to start an official thread.

Fred.

:childplease:

Once the date has been confirmed the thread can be started....the GoT season three thread was started in November despite the show premiering at the end of March.
May as well get the party started.

:aicmon: We make remakes and American adaptations out the ass. Let them Latinos eat, man...

I have no problem with the remake. The whole conversation started because I said they are remaking the shyt because most non english speaking mexicans aint buying no nerdy ass white teacher in his 50's taking over/killing the cartel and more or less becoming the man. But then again this is breaking bad so i already knew the :cape: was coming. Hell most peoples that cant get into this show thats their complaint. You know how many times I recommend the show to people who havent seen it and the response is "the dad from malcolm in the middle who moves weight :comeon:"

Isn't it interesting who people think is really behind moving drugs though? In all likelihood a person like Walter White (intelligence level and demeanor) is no doubt responsible for the purest and most addictive form of meth in the US :youngsabo: :cape:.

Why every show gotta be about corner boys? :leon:

CIA is the biggest drug dealers in the history of the U.S. so :heh: at acting like white people can't move weight.

It speaks volumes about how black people are perceived in this country when a white man can't be seen as a drug dealer. Not all drug dealers look and talk like Bodie from "The Wire".

Matter of fact "BB" ain't even about dealing drugs so I'm kinda confused how this is even a point of discussion. Walt would be doing something else illegal if he wasn't a chemist.

CIA=White:leon: and the biggest drug dealers? damn what they got poppy& coca fields in texas or something? LOL

Exactly who said anything about looking like brodie :stopitslime: I think we were talking about "CARTELS"and southern americas to be exact. Its funny how i said nothing about race outside of nobody believing a old white guy could take on the cartel and now people got to look like brodie and white people can't sell drugs :mindblown: your comprehension skills breh :patrice:

BB aint even about drugs now  @fred coming off on them courtdog xbox levels of stanerism now fool be on his up :cape: up :cape: and way :cape: steeze

I'm gonna check this out solely because it's going to be a magnificent train wreck....A Spanish version is redundant because I run into mad Spanish cats that love the show.
I might check it out for the f*ck of it but they should just dub the original and be done with it...I would really be surprised if the remake is dope.
Chances are that it will be 'good' because it will be relevant to Spanish-only speakers. Telemundo is capitalizing off the so called "Narco-Novelas" which have given that network its best ratings in its 20 year history.

The problem with dubbing is that some dialogues, mannerisms, figures of speech, etc don't translate well or at all. The opposite is also true even amongst latin populations. I remember watching some PBS show about the Latin experience where "Salsa means food to some latinos, and music to others."

If I can get some subtitles I will watch
If I remember correctly, Telemundo carried English subtitles with the Pablo Escobar narco-novela that aired last year.

La Barbie was basically white and he was certainley a boss. a full american one at that.
TRUE, and he's also from Laredo, a crazy ass bordertown. But that's one of my issues with Walt. He should have been dead a long time ago. La Barbie went up against Los Zetas, even butchered the leader's brother and left the body parts all over Nuevo Laredo as a warning.

Barbie's savagery elevated him to the top. He wasn't particularly bright or cultured as Walt is, but he has balls and lots of machismo. Gus had both, but unfortunately for Walt he has way more brains than balls. At some point, Walt may have to take a trip south of the border like Gus did, like Barbie did, and flex real muscle.

They could but they probably won't . :yeshrug: it shouldn't look like a novela
If it is meant to work, it will have to be watered down in a novela format. Especially if it is scheduled to run at aobut ~100 episodes in a 4 month span.

They don't do shows like in America where they put out 13 episode "seasons" over the course of 5 years or so.

The problem is, who is the Spanish equivalent of Michael Slovis? Because half of the look and feel of "BB" is the cinematography...But if even one is off, then there's very little chance it'll be as good.
If you've ever watched a novela, then you'll be disappointed on that front. There is no equivalent because they never go for that. Novelas air nightly, and last maybe half a year. The aforementioned Pablo Escobar narco-novela was 115 episodes deep, at about 45 minutes per show. They are simply not going to spend time on cinematography or little details.

But it ended up working because the actor chosen to play Pablo is a very good actor, and his cast was excellent, the story had a great source which made it easier for the writers and producers.

I think it will be good because the story telling and the acting will carry the show, and the producers at Telemundo and Univision are very good at that. That's been their formula for decades, and they've nearly perfected it. In latin countries they have performance studios where the actors are recruited at a very young age and brought up in a "system" (like China's Olympic athletes, or European futbol "soccer" academies for youth).

Have you seen the 8 eps of "BB" from last summer? I don't want to spoil anything.

The fact that they are not watching off the strength Hal alone is disturbing.
