There’s actually a lot to be torn about. Everyone just thinks their opinion on this situation is the correct one. You’re going to have to be serious if you think this can go on for a few more months.

All the medical experts seem to unanimously think that opening up in current conditions is a bad idea. We cannot allow people to overcrowd hospitals and push our medical system to the brink.

Even if they opened up, consumers aren’t dumb. Their behaviors are going to change massively.

You can’t possibly think that even if trump declared “it’s open” that people would listen. Nobody would be shopping, traveling, etc until this is ACTUALLY done.

Government needs to stop fukking bullshytting and just step up with a monthly stipend for ALL americans (who ain't millionaires if you need some cap)
This $1200 check ain't shyt and it's too many people who ain't going qualify for unemployment
Shut the fukk up. They need to let people that are willing to accept the risks and want to go to work or open up their businesses gradually start doing so. How long are people supposed to stay on the government's teat?
Eventually people are going to say "fukk that shyt" and start doing what they need to do.

Nah.
They're gonna put more people at risk BESIDES THEMSELVES and it will further the pandemic.

No, they won't. Many of the businesses won't exist for people to come back. Many will restructure to ensure profitability-- especially in the beginning as things SLOWLY ramp back up. The economy isn't a light switch.

A significant number will come back. Even if businesses don’t, others businesses will pop up to offer those services. People will fly again. Maybe not as much as pre-COVID, but significantly more than currently so people will have to be hired to meet the needs of that increased capacity. Ditto other nonessential industries (such as sporting goods stores, clothing stores, electronic stores, hotels, gyms, restaurants etc).

I’m not saying that everything will just go back to normal, just that that 22 million represents the worst case since significant number of those jobs will come back once businesses are allowed to open again.

Damn.
My company has hired 8000 new employees in light of this crisis. I work for corporate in the grocery industry though—for our sector, sales and business has been through the roof. We’ve implemented pay raises and many of the people we’ve hired have been people that were laid off.

Congress needs to cut more checks
From where? The magical Dollar tree? Already 8 trillion in stimulus packages has been "printed" That's the combined annual GDP of Japan +Germany in TWO months.

If this continues, the international community will lose faith in the US Dollar as reserve currency.

The end result is inevitably hyperinflation and a collapse or WWIII.

If this keeps up I don’t even think you will even see trump at the election I think he will resign before that. He’s not built for taking the major L hes about to face if Biden is up against him.

People can't follow basic instructions right now. They definitely aren't going to follow them afterwards. They lift these quarantines and the first thing people are going to do is be back in high traffic areas.

there’s nothing to be torn about. You can’t have people out and about spreading a deadly virus and overcrowding hospitals. Who is going to be spending money in an economy in those conditions? Nobody is going to be out eating or traveling. Be serious.
At least he is torn. There are pro-open it back up people who either dont care about people’s mortality or think opening stuff back up would make people start working like they were in Early March. Even if everything was not closed, after the virus got to run through people for a month, folks would be begging to government to do something. Think of the deaths and cases today...but imagine we never closed up shyt the past month.

This would be a much worse situation. The government can float the country while we fight this. They simply dont want to.

As scary as these numbers are, can’t lose sight of the fact that these jobless numbers aren’t comparable to standard jobless numbers. Once the country opens back up (even if this drags on for longer then people want), a significant number of those jobs will come back.

Blind optimism.
