there’s nothing to be torn about. You can’t have people out and about spreading a deadly virus and overcrowding hospitals. Who is going to be spending money in an economy in those conditions? Nobody is going to be out eating or traveling. Be serious.

There’s actually a lot to be torn about. Everyone just thinks their opinion on this situation is the correct one. You’re going to have to be serious if you think this can go on for a few more months.

Just for reference, in comparison to 22 million unemployed:
  • If those unemployed were a state's population they would be #3 behind California and Texas, but larger than Florida and New York.

Those people gonna be spreading the virus when they get evicted out of their house and live on the street, or they go stealing cause they're starving.

Imagine 22 million unemployed in ONE month breh. After 6 months of this nikkas will eat mud cakes like in Haiti.
:francis:
Sike, just hyperbole, it won't get that bad :mjlol:

Mud cakes don't carry coronavirus but i don't think it will get to that point either

As scary as these numbers are, can’t lose sight of the fact that these jobless numbers aren’t comparable to standard jobless numbers. Once the country opens back up (even if this drags on for longer then people want), a significant number of those jobs will come back.
No, they won't. Many of the businesses won't exist for people to come back. Many will restructure to ensure profitability-- especially in the beginning as things SLOWLY ramp back up. The economy isn't a light switch.

Theres no easy answer to this situation but these steps would be helpful:

-Govt subsidy to landlords so rent can be suspended or reduced

- create a task force to find out which companies are letting employees work from home and how they're managing.

-A one time loan to businesses that cannot afford the infrastructure to make their employees work from home. They can use that money to hire a disinfection crew that works throughout the day, install automatic doors, and have alternating office days and remote working days to limit the amount of people in the building at any time.

-Get unskilled workers a stipend to go and work as porters, janitors, etc. In hospitals and grocery stores.

- Get more businesses to redirect their production to create medical equipment. New balance is making masks and anheuser Busch is making hand sanitizer. You need to mobilize industry the same way they were mobilized during WW2. Domestic production of goods will have to ramp up and there is no shortage of manpower.

There are models around the world. Gather the data and emulate what is successful and get surgical with this. There will not be a silver bullet that will fix this depression, and yes it IS a depression. This isn't a game. Feds gotta use tax money and work out partnerships with states to enforce social distancing, hygiene and remote working. These are things keeping other places afloat and sitting around humming and hawing isnt going to do shyt. Neither is a 1 time cheque that'll be spent in 24hrs.
