I thought the fight was close, but Porter edged it.
There were a few rounds that Porter won, but then Thurman lands 2 clean shots at the end which I felt probably stole him a few rounds on the judges cards which is bs, because you're supposed to score an ENTIRE round & not just the last 30 seconds or just a few punches. Especially when the punches never detoured Shawn's attack.
I had it 115-113 for Shawn Porter and gave him rounds 2, 3, 6, 7, 8, 9, and 10.
Thurman, as I suspected, can't fight on the inside. Anytime Porter backed him up to the ropes, he went to work....only way Thurman escaped was when Steve Willis would seperate them.
Porter, as I suspected, cant box from the outside and anytime it was in the center of the ring...Thurman would land the cleaner shots from distance and caught him clean. Shots were big, but only 1 punch buckled his knee.
I thought Porter edged it due to the fight being HIS style of fight which means he dictated the pace & ring generalship. I also thought the fact Keith Thurman was over moving, turning his back and running in the fight, points where Porter literally RAN after him meant Porter had effective aggression.
I feel at worst it should've been a draw, because I honestly don't see 7 rounds to give Thurman. I don't feel like I watched him beat Porter.
Kell Shook...he won. He beat Porter is how I always felt. THIS fight between Thurman/Porter? I didnt see Porter lose. At worst it should've been a draw. Fans were right to boo...the wrong man got his hand raised imo
