I mean, it’s not even the same situation, Sony didn’t “acquire” the rights for R&C, Killzone, Resistance, etc. when they bought those studios. They were always trademarks of SCEI. Sony hired those studios to make their games. If Insomniac or guerrilla didn’t want to make more games in those franchises sony could have got another studio to make them like they have for Twisted Metal. Sly Coopers 4th game wasn’t made by Suckerpunch and Little Big Planet 3 wasn’t made by Media Molecule.

Epic completely owned Gears and Microsoft just published it, same as Mass Effect and Sunset Overdrive.
Even worse for his argument. It's really not the same. Like I get it he's a stan but damn these stans just straight up lying now.

:mindblown:
Then please don't ever "associate" Halo with Microsoft or Gears.
They were "bought" when they were already being developed by Bungie and Epic Games.

This makes your argument even worse.
This what I'm talking about you reaching all over the place.

I said the IP wasn't Created by Sony, you crashing out talking about don't associate halo with MS :mjlol: what else you gonna associate it with :mjlol:

I never said disassociate games, simply the games created while actually under Sony are Sony created IPs, the ones that aren't... aren't. Sony owned IPs sure.

Sounds like you think Spiderman is a Sony created IP too at this rate:mjlol:

I literally said outside of the cases were the own the rights out the gate.

All their IP was created under Sony, hence me saying Sony hasn’t acquired any major ip. Keep up, please. Thats why they were good acqusition targets because all their games were already all owned By Sony. Infamous and Sly, Little Big Planet, Killzone, Resistence and Ratchet and Clank, etc.

Their track record is good because of Sony investing in them to begin with. Microsoft really had no involvement with any of the studios they bought prior to buying them.

If Microsoft had bought BioWare or Remedy early on it might be similar. Right now Microsoft owns a bunch of IP and mascots that were far more popular on competing platforms like Spyro aand Crash on playstation and Banjo and Conker on Nintendo

Thats not even bringing up Activision/Zenimax which to this day no one associates with xbox
I guess sunset overdrive is a Sony created IP then also right?

:mjlol:

See how quickly narrative falls apart.

Ratchet and clank and a handful of other titles are titles that even though Sony didn't own them they basically collab'd with closely and are "Sony created" IPs at least in part.

But you trying to act like Sony had a part in everything is :mjlol:

That doesn’t apply to most of those studios you mentioned outside of Spyro and Crash. Sure sony acquired ownership of Sunset Overdrive but its also not an active IP so it doesn’t really apply to the discussion.

A publishers job is to fund games.

Sony stans like to come up with these romanticized ideas of what sony is doing vs microsoft, but in reality as publishers their Job is the same.

Whether it’s a first party game or a 3rd party game. Their job is take a game pitch from a dev and decide if they feel that game is worth the investment.

Splitting hairs over exact contract details is just stan shyt so you can say “sony good, Microsoft Bad”

The biggest difference between sony and microsoft in the past is they when sony decided to fund a game they would negotiate ownership of the IP or studio. Microsoft did not stipulate ownership in their contracts in the past. Now they’ve changed that strategy to more in line with what sony has always done and they’ve decided to buy the studio for games they want to fund.

Ultimately, like i said they are both just doing what a publisher is supposed to do :manny:

I mean according to Gizmo and fat insomniac wasn't popping until spiderman released as a Sony created IP.

Never said that at all. Insomniac has been pretty much a 2nd party studio since the 90’s :what:

Again, which is why tthey only cost sony 200m to acquire, their two biggest games at the time (resistance and R&C) were owned by sony

Uh huh, just like smash bros and flight sim, etc. thats common. Only the first part is correct. They found a studio to make their Game.

Sony like i said, have never attained any of their successful owned IP through acquisition. It’s not splitting hairs, it’s facts. Every major gaming IP they have outside of Spider-Man and Destiny started under SIE

So is it their two biggest game series are R&C and resistance and that's why they cost 200 million or is it not?

Because Spiderman is a pretty popular guy, and that game was a hit for insomniac. So you saying insomniac just sold for the low because they cool after having major success with a Major IP?
