Black woman goes IN on the black-in-tech scammers who are really just recruiters in HR, not in key roles

This is why I stopped trying to get into the tech field. They're racist and unwelcoming towards black folks.

They aren’t doing it like that no more bro. You’ll spend thousands of dollars on boot camps and shyt before you even get tot he point where they find something that worth it.

Most of these companies know that most certs are trash and worthless.

Most roles need like 6 years experience as well. But I don’t really care it’s not my life.

But if you can’t study in a structured environment what makes you think you gonna self study :what:

Don’t get me wrong it’s easy as hell to work your way up in tech but you can skip a lot of stress by having that piece of paper.
Again this just isn’t true. I don’t know if you are speaking from your experience or what but the industry is constantly making moves to lower the barrier of entry. Microsoft Google and Amazon are constantly doing things to accomplish this. All these recent certifications from them are made to give normal people the basic skills to get in the field.

This works in their favor tremendously. The number thing holding back tech companies from their pov is the exorbitant costs for salaries. The easiest way to do this is to bring more people in to increase the supply of workers and lessen the demand and thus decrease salaries. I was just working in a cloud team that was hiring people with no degrees and Practioner level certs.

i mean.... i feel like there is no reason to say this other than throwing shade because i thought tech folks are supposed to be smart. for example, i can't imagine a qualified legal mind getting "scammed" by hr. i assume they can do their own diligence to get where they need to be. if you getting scammed by hr, maybe building cars that people drive 70mph everyday is not for you

Yeah, this is how I've always felt about these cats all with "black in tech" in they IG and Twitter bio's. They do a whole lot of talking and hashtagging but it always leads to them wanting/looking for speaking gigs are linking to some ebook they put out. I NEVER tweet about what I do for work and I NEVER see any of the people I personally know work in Dev/Tech talk about work on social media because that's the last thing we want to talk about when we're not actually doing it.

I can also see the angle mentioned here... FAANG is like being a rockstar or star athlete in the software world, so if that is anywhere near your name, you almost automatically have a decent sized following if you theme your social media around FAANG. Not surprising that there would be people that try to leverage the FAANG keyword into speaking gigs and a social media presence.
