Why were they at tech bootcamps if they went to MIT and Standford?
Are you still working as a cloud engineer at that one company in NYC?
I swear to god people make things soooo complicated. Go to college and network man. That’s the formula geez. Folks stay hustling backwards. If you a first gen college student join a frat as well.
My supervisor said he set up a booth at my schools (an HBCU) career fair and NOBODY showed up. Let’s keep it a stack nobody gives a fukk about finding a job until Sallie Mae come callin
And all that “you need to know how to code” bullshyt it dead too. Most of that development shii is drag and drop with programs like talend and other shyt.
Folks in tech are extremely self important and be over explaining shyt to make themselves and their jobs seem more important than they are.
But this is 2022 ain’t nobody hiring you without no college degree in tech. Yo ass gonna be on geek squad, help desk, or jumping from contract to contract listening to the “college is a scam” crew
Let’s keep it a buck unless yo ass got mad projects on your belt and a old head to vouch for you you’ll start as a consultant then work your way up to a software tester then either become a PM or a developer. But the problem is folks with 20 years of experience make it seem like they just made 100k overnight confusing nikkas.
But then again let’s keep it a stack nobody wants to work their way up anymore nikkas want the success and accolades ASAP
That’s because there’s a staff shortageIm not gonna debate but this aint true. My bro just got hired as QA Dev. No degree. If you can prove your skills you can make it. I hate this because i usually only hear black people saying it.
Bottom paragraph is facts but that degree gets you internships that get you in the door to get experience. All those internship programs are for recent college grads/college students.Ehh she’s only half right. I follow dozens of the black in tech folks and alot of people are very open about them not being actual tech people. These roles are still very important, speaking as someone who’s been in tech over 12 years.
You also don’t need alot of coding experience or any at all for high paying tech jobs. I’ve had multiple 6 figure offers over the past year and haven’t taken one coding test.
Bootcamps and certs will get you in the door without a degree but without experience you will always be a bottom of the barrel candidate and have to really be able to wow folks in the interviews. Alot of people don’t understand this and get mad at recruiters when they usually have the least say in the matter.
Nah. Has nothing to do with clout. Someone learning code with no background is tough. Someone then being able to have a good interview is even tougher. That aint a shortcut and takes time. That’s because there’s a staff shortage
These companies are desperate for people.
But I’m giving the practical solution that a lot of people these days don’t wanna hear. B/c we live in the clout is more important than money era.
That’s why shawty was mad y’all nikkas stay selling dreams. For every one nikka hired 100s more were turned down.

But a lotta nikkas just want to say they made it with no degree to have a story to tell
I disagree bro. Alot of ways to get experience without actual job experience. Tech is extremely open. You need nothing but a computer with internet to start learning to code and more importantly to start building portfolios that you can display publicly. That’s more important to alot of people than saying you interned for X company for a few months. They’re usually not willing to teach you coding but if you can demonstrate that you know how to code then they will teach you the development process.
This being said, the person with an internship and/or college and a nice portfolio will likely always be considered over you if you lack any of those. But the great thing about the current market is that there is such a large demand that the numbers still usually work in your favor.
They aren’t doing it like that no more bro. You’ll spend thousands of dollars on boot camps and shyt before you even get tot he point where they find something that worth it.I disagree bro.
