I love most of what you’re saying. But the bold is where the problems start. Why does everything come down to telling women what to do? Women live and navigate through this world and have learned that many men are not serious and aren’t marriage minded. So women can’t shoulder all the blame, and men can also be told what to do in their sexual life and to practice more discipline. They don’t have to smash every woman they come across. They act insulted if women refuse sex but then turn around and judge women for having sex. And this is the reason many women choose to do what they want. Because men will do them and have something to say regardless

There's a correlation between having bodies and being single for an older woman. Men don't want to commit to a woman that's been run through and can't stay committed. White society isn’t rolling out the carpet for Black folks to mix with them just because we go to school with them. That isn’t the uni’s job. I’m so confused by this. Marriage culture has nothing to do with the school, per se. It’s just that school has so many options so those white girls are pushed to find a man lol

Many Black woman attend PWI's and come out not understanding:

A) The Why: The shared cultural narratives upper middle class white folks have around marriage

B) The How: The habits, behaviors, and processes that accompany those narratives.

And too many Black woman end up end focusing on the obvious C) the What: aka The Outcome or the actual marriage.

In addition, this misunderstanding is especially true for Black folks who attend college and come from a poor or working class background, as they are more likely to lack social and cultural capital. Further, this lack of cultural capital leads to paying attention to too much noise filled signals, while ignoring and/or trivializing the more accurate signals. Plus, they aren't given a set of systems or narratives by admins, teachers, or mentors and so they use a combination of intuition and social media tropes instead.

However, bougie/upper middle class Black students generally have several generations of norms and narratives as a foundation, making it generally easier to navigate long term relationships and marriage.
