What is self sufficient?
Is it providing all goods and services including public utilities, transportation, telecommunications, food, clothing, toiletries, etc.

how about just seek education and skills, use them to bring in an income, save and invest, build solid families, past down wealth to our kids and look out and get involved in our local communities by investing in them, volunteering etc like other successful groups. we seem to make shyt harder than it have to be.

Is America self sufficient?
I say "yes".
Does America produce every single thing she uses?
No.
The thing that makes America self sufficient is we have enough of the stuff we do make to trade for the stuff we need.
In general Black people need to make enough of *something* to be necessary to others who will trade our *something* for the things we need that we don't produce.
My example was the entertainment industry that we are a large part of. We should actually own the companies and produce the product in our communities.
Before we take that step we should figure out our food situation cause that would be an easy way for "them" to shut us down once we start taking billions out of "their" pockets.
Does that mean we manufacture every piece of paper and pen that we use?
No.
That means we have enough product that people want that we can trade for paper and ink.

They are really getting off on Beethoven having African roots and Lincoln's mom being mixed and every shred of info they can find about historical Black excellence.

Black people in 900 AD could navigate from Africa to America before Columbus, but in 2017 some of us haven't been outside of a 10 mile radius in our hometown. And we have cars and trains and busses.
Doesn't all that historical Black excellence kind of make us sound worse in contrast?
