Actually Spike's Miracle at St Anna had a 50 million dollar budget and is the biggest black ww2 film I can think of. Even bigger than redtails (which only had a 25 million dollar budget.) Black folks didnt support it and it flopped. I saw it opening weekend and theater was half empty. The full scale battle scenes were the biggest I have ever seen for a black film. But since white folks didnt cosign it.. black folks didnt have the same energy I'm seeing now.

The movie looks dope, but I wouldn't consider it a practical victory. The real victory is seeing more Black owned production companies who have our interests (imagery & narratives) at heart. Black actors gonna eat regardless of this film.

Will Smith owns the production company that produced After Earth which makes it more of a "pro black" film then than black panther. There were almost no white people in the movie also which also contributed to white critics trashing the film. I was actually a good movie and great positive movie to show young black children so they can see themselves as heros in a scifi or fantasy film.
