imagine if black folk had this same energy for black produced and owned content like Nate Parkers Birth of a Nation. I enjoyed the movie.. but folks talking about seeing it multiple times and stuffing marvels pockets doesn't make sense. That not keeping black dollars circulating in the black community. It's hustling backwards. Where was that energy when Nate parkers movie dropped. Even if you were one of the c00ns that claimed you were "tired of slave movies" why didn't yall do it like yall did for black panther and just some extra tickets "for the cause" and to support Nate Parkers film... You didn't even have to watch it to do that. It's clear that black panther has proven black folks have no problem spending their money. no excuses.

Hopefully Chadwick bossman sees some backend money so that would be the only silver lining if a black person actually benefited from all this. I doubt it though cause marvel is notoriously cheap especially for the first movie.
birth of a nation was bad. poorly marketed. and not even historically accurate after billing itself as such.

The funniest thing is that the NFL and NBA are lifting hundreds of black people out of poverty every year.

Something this movie will never do.

Disney execs are the only people getting rich off this movie.

But woke nikkas think this movie success is gonna trickle down to black people.

:heh:

To be fair...the NFL is a poor example. The league average salary is about 2 million, and you play for about 3 years on average. And even then the benefits package is so shyt that most of that money is going to go to your medical needs for bad knees, hips, CTE, etc.

This film has been successful enough that a black director, virtually all of the principal cast, the costume designers, set designers, musicians, and editors will get work for the foreseeable future. On top of that the film injected something like $100 Million into the Greater Atlanta Area economy, employing various electricians, contractors, caterers, drivers, and entertainment venues.

I think people grossly underestimate how much big budget films generate revenue for the cities they are filmed in. The film prolly saved so many black small businesses from the brink that we don't even know about.

They small minded and don't understand peripheral benefits as well as
Establishing a majority black business model
If Tariq make a action movie next his gofundme numbers gonna be insane

^^ This...

You are a cac or c00n. It was the best reviewed and critically acclaimed and praised movie after it debuted at the Sudance festival. It wasn't until nate Parker secured his historic distribution deal that the cacs and coins went into overdrive trying to tear down Parker and the film. No film is 100% accurate. That's another cac c00n talking point.

Mr Parker was going around doing interviews about his rape case, rather then go into full overdrive promoting his movie

Updated for accuracy, weekend actuals came in today.

'Black Panther' Delivers Fifth Largest Opening of All-Time, Heading Toward $235M+ 4-Day Debut - Box Office Mojo

MONDAY AM UPDATE: Disney has revised their three and four-day estimates for Black Panther and as expected the grosses continue to rise with the film now delivering an estimated $201.7 million over the three-day and is expected to surpass $235 million for the four-day weekend. This makes Black Panther only the fifth movie to debut with over $200 million over its opening weekend and the third highest four-day gross in history, passing Jurassic World's $234.1 million four-day gross.

The film will most likely break even more records once actuals are in, perhaps including the largest Sunday gross as the current Sunday estimate is currently less than $500k shy of Star Wars: The Force Awakens for the top spot. The film's current estimate of $33.2 million for Monday is already the second largest Monday of all-time, again trailing Force Awakens' $40.1 million Monday from back in December 2015.

It came out before BP so what's your point. And it doesnt have to be better. The fact is it was a true black produced project of a revolutionary black figure they don't want black kids learning about that got nationwide distribution. If black folks can waste money buying multiple to tickets to a white owned franchise like BP then they obviously have enough disposable income to have supported parkers film or at least buy a ticket. No excuse.

It’s not true, it’s based on the truth.

Parker’s film is as white owned as BP. A lot of His investors AKA the people who will reap the money from the film were white. So what’s your point?

Also black people went to go see BOAN; obviously

Unless something has that saltine stamp of approval, sadly most black folk just won't fukk with it
