Okay friend

I'm merely pointing the hypocrisy of going into one thread and condeming European Colonialism, Imperialism and Forced Conversions (which are all valid criticisms) under the guise of being "Pro-Africa", and then turning around and defending Arabs who did/do the same thing.

Here's a newsflash for some of you: Islam and Arabs were no different than European Christian Nations. Both spread the same way and by the same methods.

So we are going to ignore that before all that, there were refugees that fled to Africa and spread Islam? Islam Spread to Africa first. Kush, Sudan, other empires fell.. Islam picked up the pieces in some cases. Most concepts and ideas were spread the same way as Christianity; Judaism, capitalism, socialism, Islam, etc. In the earliest history of Islam there was violence, but there were also people accepting Islam the way people are today, and have been throughout history.

"guise of being Pro-Africa". Saying that Arabic slavery isn't significant in the acceptance of a religion that stemmed from Arabia isn't defending those actions. I guess no Arabic person should practice Islam either, because they've mainly had Arabic slaves.. I guess all black people should stay away from all Africa religions, solely due to slavery and atrocities towards woman and children in Africa.

Specific group? Go back and read my posts.

The SAME thing happens to the side of my family which is of indigenous origin. They aren't black.

The SAME thing happened to WHITE Irish people who had their entire customs destroyed by the Catholic Church, and now ride the hardest for their oppressive religion.

Ok.

I don't really feel oppressed by religion. Do you?

Maybe they are aware that religion hasn't enslaved them. They were more than likely enslaved because of war or because of labor needs. I don't think some guy saying that an angel spoke to him is they reason they are in chains.

Do you feel oppressed by religion?

When "God" sends down his message to an Arab man, there is an undertone of establishing superiority in that decision, which leads to severe social consequences. It has happened in almost all religion. That is why, to this day, the Arabs from the Saudi/Yemen region feel they are superior even to other Arabs. They feel they are the gatekeepers of their religion.

:tisalute:
I never saw it this way, but that is brillant.

Considering that, the corollary could be that God reveals only to men therefore the women follow the males and are accessory to them. If we look at the way women are seen in monotheist religions, that seem logic.

So in short what the detractors are saying is that Blacks should not Muslims based on the ideal that in Muhammeds time, he was a slave owner and was not black?

so just to recap the arguments here are as follows:

1- Blacks cant make the claim Islam is a "pro black" religion or the "black mans" religion based on the fact that Mohamed owned Black slaves (amongst other type of slaves), and because Muslims were involved in the African slave trade (along with the Balkan slave trade and the Turkic slave trade)

2- The counter argument is "Islam is not a religion that belongs to any one person or people and so its irrelevant whether Muslims traded in Africans in the 10th century or Circassians in the 16th century"

Is that correct?

In addition to argument 1

-Islam was founded by nonblacks
-Islam associates blackness with Satan/evil/slavery

There are many more but those 2 should be pretty obvious

whats even more pathetic about that picture, if you look up the history of it, is that that picture is from a ship the british captured as they were trying to enforce the abolition of the slave trade

you have to be on some high level of devilishness if you are at the point of being lectured by englishman, which is what essentially happened with muslims and england vis a vis slavery

My problem is not with blacks following Islam. That's not the issue. The issue is certain Black Muslims on here claiming that Islam is "pro-African" or "pro-Black", and going into other threads denouncing European imperialism/colonialism/slavery/forced conversions to Christianity and then experiencing cognitive dissonance about the history/roots of Islam.

It's highly disingenuous.
