If you click the links, you'll see that the suicide rates increase is in the context of 15 - 24 years olds and it's noted that these rates used to be lower than other races for previous generations. the average coli user might not understand this because most of them are older and don't understand the problems young people my age are facing in the manner that they faced when they were young.

I feel very sad for the younger generation. Their life is nothing but stress and competition. I guess it’s always been like they but not to the point where two swipes down on any social media app can make you feel completely worthless.

I don’t know what the answer is.

Bruh people on here asked you to expound. Give us insight into how being religious makes a difference. A post gave examples like Guyana were this is still an issue but I want to hear your perspective.

Lack of faith in Jesus
Yup

access to information at your fingertips and the overall IQ of a population increasing over each generation will certainly do that

Dudes are no longer under a delusion and are unfortunately waking up to a reality that they are not a fan of.

I'm not gonna lie. Summer of 2020 was hard AF. Seeing police killings of people that look like me constantly. The social media discourse being talked all around me and not FROM me. The devaluation of my thoughts/emotions. Its rough.

I personally, think it's really important to understand that we simply aren't lauded like that. Hell I know brothers that can go months and literally no one even says anything nice to them. Therapy was good, but really my saving grace was carefully curating social media AND not drinking/smoking too much.

But lastly, it's important to reconnect with positivity. Even if it's childish. But the pandemic's been rough on black people in general. We should put that in context as well. Basically a million people in the US alone died, many of them black.

The spirit is dead before a man takes his own life. There's only one remedy no matter how much people fight it. You can believe otherwise all you want to, but you are lying to yourself. God is the only way.

Get to know what God said by reading His Word . That's the problem. People don't know Him and can't hear His Voice when He speaks.

God was yelling at the kid not to do it, but he couldn't hear His Voice. Now he's in the realm he can't come back from, no matter how much he regrets it.

Life comes from God. If you separate from the source of life it's only a matter of time until you are fully dead.

It’s probably a mix of all the things posted.

*lower religiosity - I’m agnostic but religion does give you a psychological backstop of hope

*masculinization of black women - subsets of black men, specifically rappers, street dudes, etc., have influenced women into taking on more masculine attitudes of “fukk relationships…get money. turn up. have sex.” this + white feminism has really destroyed appreciation for the average black man

*rise of social media & clout culture - goes hand in hand with the above. raps message has been “you ain’t shyt if you don’t have money” and this is amplified more than ever now. money & status are everything and no one in the community is afraid to tell you that to your face

*falling black consciousness - a lot of younger brehs are growing up on some kumbayaa shyt not understanding the history of this country and what position it’s consistently tried to put black people, and especially black men, in. if you don’t understand that discrimination, structural racism, etc. is a factor you have to deal with, it hits you that much harder when it does.

Black men continue to be groomed as a social and economic underclass while all of the world, and now black women too, tells them to go get money and status or they're worthless.

Brooklyn keeps on taking it.
Look up the countries with the highest suicide rates it's usually Guyana, Suriname and a few southern African and Pacific island nations in the top twenty. But let's just chalk it all up to atheism.

It’s actually surprising that Guyana which is unique has such a high rate and it’s a Caribbean cultured nation.

Even from a demographic perspective it’s similar to Trinidad and still.

Wonder what their reasoning is
