AND?

Yet we tout the 92 team for winning against cats still holding day jobs at some local market in their country.

:russ:
Wait..... hold up.

The Gasol brothers almost single handidly beat this 2012 team and you cats still think that these guys can stand up to the 92 team? :heh:

The Gasol brothers breh..

And these 2012 team was really trying...:to::russ::laff::laff:

The point differential of the 2012 US team getting by Argentina and Spain should be used against them, but it's a moot point to use the quality of opponent the 92 Dream team faced compared to the 2012 team.

Niqqas in here are ass backwards.

Heaven on Earth
also, I dont like people slandering Nigeria.

The Nigerian team had more NBA players than most of the teams the '92 team faced, and more D1 level players than most of the '92 team faced.

I dont believe the 2012 team beats Nigeria by 83 points all the time, or even 40-50, but its always a blowout.

A lot of these comparissions don't matter anyway..Just because a team has NBA players on their roster doesn't make them superior in international play...France and Brazil were stock full of NBA talent and didn't even medal..The same Nigerian team that US beat by 80, defeated the Lithuiania squad that we barely scraped past...

Outside of Spain and the U.S. there is really no consistent rhyme or reason to create a grading curve...At the end of the day its just basketball..

Breh, you can p*ssy foot around what you saw in the finals all you want, but the Gasols took this team to the limit. Think about that...:whoo:
It wasn't just the Gasol brothers.

Spain had 7 NBA players on their roster. Don't slight them just to denigrate the 2012 team while bigging up the 92 team that played no one.

Romanticize?

You're the one busy framing it as "jacking" and all of the other nonsense.

It was a part of their arsenal, period. I don't get the negative slant against it.

I framed as it was, and for some reason that bothers you.

Stop trying to dissect "slants" and shyt. Of those who attempted 3s (everybody except,Davis and Chandler) only Lebron and Rus attempted 3s on fewer than 40% of their shots. Only Deron (35.5%), Harden (46.4%) and Iggy (30.5%) shot 3s on over 30% of their shots during this past regular season.

Yea, they were jacking them. Having fun out their against shyt competition. It wouldn't go down like that, with any regularity against a team as good as the Dream Team.

I stated that it was a part of this team's arsenal to take threes. What part of it are you not getting besides reaffirming that point?

:snoop:

I think it would go like that regularly against the 92 Dream Team who'd only open themselves to other problems if they chose to stop that part of the 12 team's game.

those two squads lost out to more talented teams

Lithuania beat Nigeria by 20

the competition is much better now than back then and a lot closer after the US

and I brought up Nigeria because people are trying to make them out to be like Angola '92 when its far from true. They had Conference POY, lotto picks, and final 4 experienced players on that team. Not cats who sell bushmeat on their off days.

The bigs opened up the game for Spain's other players. We saw it.

Pau is a nice player and Marc is solid, but they're not close to the bigs in the 92 team.

If they play one game, anything is possible. But if they play a 7 game series, then it's not even a question who would come out on top.

It's just a bad matchup for the 2012 team. I'm not denigrating them, but it is what it is.

im convinced most of you posting in this thread didn't actually LIVE through the 80s and 90s

this team gets handled by '92 , it'd be fun to watch, but it'd be no contest

the drive, competitive nature and bball IQ is way higher on '92, and they have Jordan.. you guys actually think '92 was trying their best? uh no... we never saw the best out of that team because they were never challenged

anyways back to work

Always this bs age card being thrown around in here.

Malta, I and others are old enough to have seen these teams.

Stop it with the slander. Just make your point.

True indeed.

No doubt, a team with good bigs would hurt the 2012 team.

What are you not getting about that NOT being the modus operandi when faced with legitimate comp. These great shooters don't operate like this in the NBA.

They're more wide open in international ball, so they can shoot at a decent clip to make jacking threes a reasonable attack. Coupled with their ability to stifle the opponents offense most of the time, they could get away with it.

Durant hit on 52.3% of his three point shots in the Olympics. If he were able to shoot at that rate in the league, he'd jack threes in OKC, too.
