MC Hammer?
Why not?

You guys REALLY don't understand the cultural impact of MC Hammer...In all the variables that can measured OBJECTIVELY, MC Hammer beats out MOST of your favorite MCs

MC Hammer in his peak was BIGGER than Drake right now...I was in South Africa watching MC Hammer cartoons, and arguing about "who is the better dancer? MC Hammer vs Michael Jackson"

Dude did MORE for Hip Hop on a LARGER scale than Rakm, KRS One, Slick Rick, Big Daddy Kane, LL Cool J and any rapper that came out in the late 80s early 90s...

But you want to tell me a local act like BDK should raked higher than MC Hammer, a dude who took Hip Hop above and beyond the USA....:mjlol:

I don't even know why you people make these threads KNOWING that some of your favorite MCs don't have the OBJECTIVE data to support their claims to GOAT status...

If you want to make an EMOTIONAL argument that BDK is better than MC Hammer, then go ahead, but the NUMBERS don't support that claim...BDK is small fish in a global pond compared to MC Hammer (one of the highest selling hip hop artists to date)...:krs:

Oh chit...it's finna be LIT in here...
I am just being OBJECTIVE...

Anybody can make an emotional argument for their favorite rappers...But songs like "Can't Touch This" "Too Legit To Quit" "Pray" ECLIPSE BDKs career...

Are we going to say MC Hammer is not hip hop? Drake is Hip Hop but MC Hammer isn't? Mubling Mumbo Jumbo Dope Fiend Future is Hip Hop but MC Hammer isn't?

What argument is there against MC Hammer's claim to GOAT? He did the same music as BDK, I have seen them both dancing all up in the videos...:krs:

1) I didn't say anything about Kane in my quoted post, so stay on subject when deciding to address me.

2) You have no idea who my favorite MCs are, because I haven't said so since registering on this board. (I couldn't care less about Drake.) And it's irrelevant to my question.

3) I was there for MC Hammer. Not that internet claims matter, but I was born in the Bay, and my father knew the Burrells. My life's soundtrack is from Run-D.M.C. onward, so don't presume to tell me what I don't understand when I was right there at the scene as it was happening. I'm not some Johnny-come-lately. It's ignorant to make presumptions about an anonymous person on the internet you've never interacted with before.

Don't come at me with an unrelated rant and stupid smilies. I asked you a simple question and if you had anything of substance to say, you could have simply explained your position instead of going off on stuff that has absolutely nothing to do with me and talking about "you people." I know this is typical operating procedure on the internet, but I don't have time for that crap. If you can't do any better than that, then it was a mistake for me to even engage you thinking a productive conversation would result.

....
There is no need to listen to Big Daddy Kane....Far more better rappers came after him...

Krs 1 is the only rapper from the 80s that made timeless music in my opinion...Sound of Da Police, Black cop, 9mm and many more...

Krs One and MC Hammer are the ONLY rappers from the 80s early 90s that are worthy of GOAT status...
I could tell that you never heard him. His style was not outdated like say a Kool Moe Dee. You are robbing yourself by not listening to Raw and Ain't No Half Steppin.

(1) This thread is about BIG DADDY KANE...If you are NOT having a discussion about BDK then please state clearly what discussion you are having...Since, the OP is about BDK that is the focus of all my arguments, and I am just using other rappers of that same era for comparison...

I am on subject...

(2) It doesn't matter who your favorite MCs are, the argument is that MC Hammer has an OBJECTIVE case for GOAT...Therefore, I can compare MC Hammer to everybody that has ever picked up a MIC...So, unless MC Hammer is your favorite MC, the statement stands whether or not I know who your favorite MCs are...

I brought up MC Hammer because he was around during the time of BDK, and he had a BIGGER impact than BDK, but he doesn't get his just due as one of the most successful rappers EVER...

BDK gets more mention that MC Hammer in Hip Hop Lists, but what had he really done? Especially, when you use MC Hammer as a comparison...Therefore, BDK is OVERRATED as stated by the OP...

You think it is irrelevant because you are not connecting the dots...But instead of asking for clarification, you are getting defensive...

(3) If you were there in the MC Hammer hey day, then why are you questioning my selection of MC Hammer as a potential GOAT? You of all people should know better because you had first hand knowledge...

(4) I am not ranting...I am studying for exams, I have more stressful things on my mind...This is 100% distraction and entertainment...

I was ready to come at you...but you make a valid point.I just think your choice of words is wrong when it comes to BDK.I would not say overrated as much as I would say that he did not reach his full potential and made some bad career choices.I think that he got fed up with the state of the industry but lacked the ability,or drive,to keep up with was going on in hip hop.Adaptability is what makes the good ones great in my opinion. The notion that as an MC you had to be original(not bite others style) made some artists cling to an outdated style and use their originality as an excuse to explain why they could not adapt to a new situation and style and faded to black.Now...as far as performing goes,he will stomp a mudhole in about 95% of rap performers till this day.Performing is becoming a dying artform in hip hop.BDK's generation took from performers in the 60/70's and took that to their own stage shows.80/90/00's babies have no such frame of reference and it shows. This is the reason I don't like comparing artists from an era where performing was even more important because relevancy was based off that instead of social media and fukkery off set.He is in my top 5 because "Set it off,Wrath of Kane" and his first two album brought tears to my eyes as a youngin,i could not believe how dope hip hop could sound if a true master was at the helm.

:obama:

I'm repping you off the strength of the second bold part. I went to a Kane show recently and he killed it.
