Plat gives you status with Marriott and Hilton properties. Its a nice perk when you use it because your entitled to some benefits but I personally don't value that perk highly since im not loyal to either one of those brands plus I do airbnb as much as I do hotel

i like the Hilton but lately the hotels I had in mind wasn’t any of those. Just got with the highest rating and most rated and look at the pictures and pick the best resort is the type of shyt I’ve been doing lately.. Never done airbnb yet. Have a weird feeling about those for some reason. Haven’t tried those out..

been on it for years. had 1 bad experience out of 12 bookings, and it was my first time and I didn't check the reviews.

For example, my family going to NOLA next week, we got a house with a pool. we want to have meals together and and enjoy a private heated pool. hotel can't compete price wise or amenity wise

its not though. you have to understand the game and that it's a perks card and not a points card. if the program fits you then its easy to get triple your moneys worth out the card

1. If your not intentional about maxing out on the benefits for the spend you do each month your not prospering. you should study all of their programs. Their "lower end" cards with little to no annual fee can have you earning properly

2. Gold is a card that can fit into a lot of peoples rotation nicely, you need to Dine out frequently. using that in conjunction with platinum is a nice blend of points and perks. your travel/dining/grocery bases are covered.

3. if you don't dine out frequently you have no biz with a Gold card, if you don't fly at least 1 round trip quarterly you have no biz with a platinum. people in those categories can eat swell of green or blue cash reserve with out the large expense.
Don’t forget Amazon fresh and neighborhood Walmart deliveries code as 4x so you don’t really even have to grocery shop anymore.

Call Amex and ask them to switch it. Usually Amex can give you another card without pulling your score again. I’m sure this happens all the time because those cards are often mistaken

transfer them shyts to delta or whatever airline and eat. don't book hotels with it, low point value.

is it that easy to transfer points to delta account from my card, if so I'll probably do that with the points? I just got on amex plat today and haven't made any purchases. Any advice for a newb trying to figure out the points game? I've been using my Apple Card :snoop: since it came out and my visa points rewards card :francis: for everything in the past decade. I could've got approved for this shyt 10 years ago but the rewards game seemed too difficult to track.

Part of me feels like I should've got the Gold instead because my job pays for all my travel expenses anyway. I think I let the naming system play me :mjlol:

Gold is the much easier card to obtain points on. DO NOT transfer points to an airline loyalty program until you are ready to book, they will devalue your shyt quickly if they are points just sitting there. British airways loyalty gives us the best bang if you are looking to go overseas to Europe btw. Checkout The Points Guy website for even more tips. That being said, yes it’s very easy to transfer points to airlines or to your new Hilton and Marriot Bonvoy elite statuses.

one more thing. If you have the platinum and gold cards do points from both cards consolidate in one pot or do the points on the gold accumulate on gold and plat on plat? I looked online for the answer but probably aren't using the right terms.

The points you earn for any AMEX card goes together. That is why people tend to have both the Plat and Gold card at the same time to maximize points.

We have a website called escapehouston.com where they post dirt cheap airfare to everywhere. We did Japan for $600, and Europe several times for $450, they have sister websites for a few other cities so check them out and see if they have one for yours as well.
