don't really do layovers.

I treat the Centurion lounge like and office, coffee spot, Free restaurant, Free bar (JFK one has a speak easy). I go there hours early, work from the laptop, relax, take advantage of the equinox services, and when its boarding time I just hit the terminal.

Ill go to JFK with no where to go, book a cancelable flight, hit the lounge, cancel the flight. and just use the facilities. eat and drink if I want too.
its really like a premium office/hangout spot people would pay top dollar for

i see but general standards in germany are high and differentials between services are smaller than in the USA, UK etc.

trains..

munich terminal..

when standards are high (and germans are the global masters at middle and upper-middle class excellence) there is little benefit and/or desire to buy a way out.

germans see the stratification of services (with low norms) as a sign of societies where people actually do not have, and where those with advantage want to separate themselves from people who they see as very different to them.

cars, education, transport, hotels etc.. less elitism with true higher standards. i am not german but that way of thinking makes more sense to me. even porsches are utilitarian daily drivers and are unlike the offerings from poorer more stratified societies like ferarri, rolls, bentley, bugatti etc.

etc

If your in Germany that’s different. Amex isn’t even accepted universally in Europe and the programs not the same

Nothing is wrong with staying home if thats what you want to do.

I already get to the airport mad early to cut out any opportunity for traffic or anything else to make me late. I enjoy being in the lounge because I want to drink their liquor, their champagne. If I'm traveling I probably not keeping groceries at the crib, there's value in getting a good meal there. The centurion lounge is an excellent perk FOR ME. if you can't understand that there are cards that may better suit you.

So you are there because you travel?...I thought that was the point?

where is the confusion? I said

1. I use the lounges before travel.
2. Ill go to JFK when im not traveling and spend hours there having some drinks or eating there food at no cost to me.

I Have meetings there and even bring friends. its an avail amenity that I take advantage of, enjoy and am willing to pay for it was 1 of the benefits of the card.

Ya you right smh
keeping mind you don't get any point value with platinum. The gold really is a better card. only way you getting more than 1x points on platinum is if your're booking flights directly with an airline or hotels through AMEX.

This card is ideal for a small few (those that will max out on the travel perks to make the $700 worth it) and even then if you don't have other amex cards in addition to platinum you aint playing the game right
