So Platinum is more of a traveling card; flights, car rentals, hotels, Uber, etc right?

You get your monies worth out of the card from the PERKS. (Not necessarily the points)

yes there’s a high point value for travel purchases but the majority of your points accrual will come from dining/grocery ect on other cards. The platinum card doesn’t offer much as far as high value spending categories.

I pay the 700 fee because the card covers CLEAR and global entry which massively improve your travel experience. Also the automatic gold status at Hilton and Marriott include free room upgrades and late checkouts. The primary benefit for me is the centurion lounges at the airport. I can eat/drink for free and be comfortable. There’s a list of people there things I take advantage of and I’m getting way more that 700 in value out of the program

my point is you have to be intentional about capitalizing on the program. Putting purchases that are not travel on this card is an L most of the time

Went to Malibu last weekend. Platinum Delta. Free TSA precheck. Got reimbursed within a few days of my appointment. Flight and all seat upgrades on points. Only spent money for hotel, dispensary visits ( ha) and food. Used SkyLounge access for food and drinks both ways. 8am flight home. Free Alcoholic Drinks, snacks, headphones on the plan with seat upgrade. It’s not the big dog Plat but the perks still are nice. Home in time to pass out candy to the kiddos like a good Lady should.

Do you like Clear? I just got TSA precheck reimbursement right before my trip last weekend. Lines were short or nonexistent so didnt see the need for Clear. I also worry about the biometric info/privacy. I hate too much technology. But I do see a lot of people using it. I’m going too add Global entry when I go out the country next year.

Capital One has been flooding my email box and mail box with the Quick Silver

Any brehs have QS? and if so, is it worth getting?

I would get it just to get the 200 bucks back and not use?
It’s not, Venture, Savor or one of the others with the lowest APR/Visa Signature suite.

In general, C1 does allow you to upgrade products after having for a while, pure cash back cards tend to have the lowest yield for your spend (it’s around 1.5% back right?) and no customization by category- if you’re looking for a cash back card, I’d say look elsewhere.

If you’re interested in C1, do the prequalify tool online and pick better suited to your needs or wants-restaurants and travel come to memory as their special suite cards.

Global Entry includes Precheck- I staved off getting it for the longest because I was misinformed about fees (thought $100/year and some other things) but $15 more for 6 years is def worth it!

I only didn’t get Global because they said it’s hard to get appointments. Definitely going to get it though. I’m still not convinced about Clear

Can someone say how much money they make on rewards yearly, after expenses (annual fees, etc.)?

Went ahead and applied and was approved for the gold. I already have the Chase Sapphire and Apple Card.

Do you like Clear? .

CLEAR and pre check together are a must for me now.

Pre check expedites the physical screening, clear expedites the document screening.

you’ll find yourself in situations where the line for pre check is still long but if you have both you breeze past the pre check people that are in line to get their documents checked by the TSA agent.

prime examples would be JFK and Atlanta where that pre check line is still 15 mins but there a separate line for people who have both and you’ll get past security in 2 mins

Platinum card pretty much cancels out the sapphire programs
Reserve yes. But Preferred still has some great perks Platinum doesn’t have for the small annual fee. I got like $150 back buying my Saatva mattress on my CSP. Their monthly rewards are with good companies.
