Why platinum?

as a platinum card holder it’s not many spend categories I use that card for. Card is the goat for the perks and ain’t the card to use for the points most of the time

For the sign up bonus and with the upcoming expenses I have, I should be able to spend the $6000 needed to get the bonus no problem.

Half an hour later I tried for Platinum since they have a good offer……Bam!!! Approved

I have very big purchases coming up soon (which I have the money in full) so I am thinking about getting the platinum

The Gold has been great for me. Can't wait to pull out the platinum to pay for a mcchicken and a small fry though

Platinum is more of a traveling card. Gold is for your day to day shopping; groceries, Uber, dinner with the wifey, etc.

Platinum is more of a traveling card. Gold is for your day to day shopping; groceries, Uber, dinner with the wifey, etc.

For the people that get the platinum card now they get 10 X on dinning for the first few months so that is definitely the card to use for eating. However if you can handle the platinum and gold those cards work really well together in terms of accumulating points.

I got the platinum first and then three months later I got the gold. The gold is my main everyday card, my platinum I use for purchases I want to have the extended warranty that the platinum card comes with on along with anything I order off of Amazon. Amex platinum is really good about reimbursing you if something happens to any purchases made on the card covered under the warranty. I also pay my cell phone bill on the platinum bc of the cell phone coverage it comes with along with the streaming service benefits. And of course anything travel related I put on the platinum. Using it like that will help load up the points.

I hit it in 2 months because I was booking concert tickets and flights for a group.

even with the 140k points some being are getting right now I would say if your not doing 5ish round trip flights a year the 695 isn't worth it.

for me it is worth it because of how often I travel but if I couldn't justify the fee otherwise

A flight out and a flight back home. Don’t matter where you go. If you benifing from that free global entry, CLEAR, eating/drinking/relaxing/working from the centurion lounges frequently, you up
