The authorized user gold is not the same as the official Amex Gold
the au gold is plastic instead of metal
has none of the perks an amex gold has
and doesn't even have some of the perks of the plat
I gave my parents one so I know

I gave my Mom and Sister one.... and yes, they got the Rose Gold metal cards..... and what does the card material matter...... and when you say perks, what do you mean? Rewards? If I'm not mistaken, you can share your reward points if you choose to...

It’s not even for eating out the multiplier is not good for dining (outside of the 10x introductory offer)

for me, I want the centurion lounges, and access to the other lounges plus hotel status plus free global entry and clear. Plat is def worth it for me. Fee is 695

Well... I did include jet settin in my original post...... and I just upgraded to plat Amex last night, but reversed it tonight after doing a little math.... my annual fee was going to be 750..... ymmv.....

I have a everyday blue, they said I can upgrade to a cash preferred joint below ....I don't travel or use CC that much so got about $140 cash points on the everyday blue

I remember when this joint was clear with the rainbow tint......

I gave my parents an authorized user platinum gold card
The material doesn’t matter but some people like flexing with the weight of the metal card
By perks i mean the perks that come with Platinum like airline credits, Saks fifth avenue credit, Uber credits, etc they only have tsa -recheck or global entry credit

The Platinum is a card for status and benefits. It’s not some shyt you actually swipe outside of paying for flights and stuff on it. I have one myself but it sets in my drawer or sometimes I bring it out if I want to flex on a date

Worst card ever. It looked good when new but after a single week in your wallet that shut would fall apart

That’s a terrible idea and Amex will at you

because if your intential about it you get way more in perks than the annual fee. ill gladly pay $700 to kick in a nice lounge for a few hours before my flight and eat and drink for free. changes the whole travel experience let alone getting global entry and clear for free on top on the hotel credit. im getting my monies worth more than 2 fold

some people only fly once or twice a year and it doesnt add up for them.

for me the airport perks aer everythig. the feeling of paying $7 for a bum as little bag of chips boils my blood.
