I think I’m going to get the Gold and then stop with Amex. I have Plat Delta with them. But just landed to Chase Sapphire Preferred. Intro bonus was 80k. All my others are Navy Federal. I’m bowing out after adding Gold, one hotel card, and probably Chase Freedom Unlimited. I’ll work those for the long haul. Chase has that monthly Pelaton credit. So I can do without Plat Amex for $695 annual fee.

I can’t give up the centurion lounge at JFK which pushes the platinum over the top for me.

I’m Rolling with that and navy’s flagship rewards and and signature cash. Probably would have opt to go with another navy card in place of flagship rewards if I knew I was going to get the platinum since some of their benefits cancel each other out but I’m sticking with these three to keep my average length of account up.

Not really. I've received preapproved offers for AMEX Gold several years ago. At the time I balked because I didn't want to pay the annual fee :yeshrug:

Also credit cards may or may not be the best for OPs situation. A lot of the benefits are tied to travel and if he isn't traveling like that why even get such a card? If OP works a job where he travels a bit and gets reimbursed for his purchases then it would be a better deal imo

This.... Plat Amex ain’t worth the 750 annual fee unless you jet settin and eating at the most exquisite joints consistently

For Platinum Card members you can add a Gold card to the account for free.

I see you can add auth user gold cards for free but I read those aren't full fledged gold cards

I don’t understand why they wouldn’t be.... Gold card members can get additional gold cards(up to 5 for free). Not sure why they would put restrictions on a plat user....
The authorized user gold is not the same as the official Amex Gold
the au gold is plastic instead of metal
has none of the perks an amex gold has
and doesn't even have some of the perks of the plat
I gave my parents one so I know

It’s not even for eating out the multiplier is not good for dining (outside of the 10x introductory offer)

for me, I want the centurion lounges, and access to the other lounges plus hotel status plus free global entry and clear. Plat is def worth it for me. Fee is 695

I use credit cards almost exclusively now. but why would anyone want a CC that u gotta pay an annual fee for?
because if your intential about it you get way more in perks than the annual fee. ill gladly pay $700 to kick in a nice lounge for a few hours before my flight and eat and drink for free. changes the whole travel experience let alone getting global entry and clear for free on top on the hotel credit. im getting my monies worth more than 2 fold

I'm only rocking a Broke Boi Blue ( BBB) :mjcry:

I have a everyday blue, they said I can upgrade to a cash preferred joint below ....I don't travel or use CC that much so :yeshrug: got about $140 cash points on the everyday blue :ehh:

That’s a good lineup too.

Lounge access is perfectly worth it alone. I just got my annual companion certificate from Delta Plat. That’s a free fight minus taxes. Card already has paid for itself. And free TSA/Global check. Annual fee $250
