Dang if the Amex gold did 6x on groceries it would be a no brainer. I think even 5 would make it worth it for me.
Closest card that competes with the Gold is the Citi Custom Cash at 5X Thank You points per dollar, but limited to $500/mo...so max of $6k per year. Gold gives you 4x points for a max of $25k per year. AmEx points are valued higher per point for redemption than Thank you points. Winner: Gold. It’s still probably the best all around restaurants/grocery card out there.

I’m doing alright with the hodgepodge of cards I got going. The thing the intrigued me about that gold was the 25k reward limit for groceries. But the math doesn’t work out in my favor.

I only have one annual fee and it’s 95 bucks for my Amex which gets x6 on groceries and I have another Amex that gets x3 on restaurants travel (flights, rentals, hotel) and gas.

Then I have a slew of other cards that have rotating categories and citi double cash back for everything else.

I get x6 on my Amex blue cash preferred. I spend between 700-800 a month on groceries so its clutch for me.
You’re offer was better than mine. I got my blue cash in 2013 so it’s only cash back no points.

Brehs talking about Platinum and Gold :laff: If you ain't got a Centurion :camby:

:francis:

I don’t think anyone in the Locker room has one. Maybe in the 6fig6certs forum and it’s probably only 1 or 2 in there. Post your screen cap since you Mr. Baller

Combining Platinum and gold brings in a $945 annual fee for just the 2 cards

Them benefits though :wow:

If you dont travel much the Gold is sufficent
Oh I’m following advice given on here after my Platinum intro offer runs out in 2 months. I’m parking my money right on that gold card. It looks like now they are offering $10 per month on uber eats among other benefits. You can combine them as an example and get $25 per month free uber cash and then all the points from both cards go in one bucket.

in general the fees pay for themselves for the perks, i never saw the point of having both

We definitely need a CC points thread cause shyt is still confusing to me somewhat. I know there is a system and I follow some people on IG but a good breakdown would be nice.

You have to look at it as a video game where when you stay on one video game system (Amex points) you get to accumulate money like in GTA for doing hood rat shyt and then buying up stuff that helps you along the way. You can buy an Xbox (chase points) that has its own exclusive titles and does other things, but it’s more work with 2 gaming systems to play on. It’s doable but it’s more work for your leisure.

Yeah, and gold for me makes a lot of sense I’m just saying them fees for both at the same time is steep as fk.

thats why I said you only need 1. I had the gold before I started really traveling then upgraded to Platinum. The reason I say use 1 card is because you want to use it like a debit/for all purchases that can accept AMEX in order to maximize spend which maximizes points. 2 card make sense if one is used for all business expenses (assuming you re a business owner) and the other for personal

Once my 10x runs out on my platinum for gas and groceries I don’t have any incentive to put heavy lifting on only my platinum if the gold is giving me 4x on dining and groceries. Our date night bill when we go out is around $200/300 so that’s $800/$1200 in spending power at least once a month minimum. It would be dumb not to cop just for that plus the extra money they would send me for uber eats which I use as well from my platinum benefits.

I think I’m going to get the Gold and then stop with Amex. I have Plat Delta with them. But just landed to Chase Sapphire Preferred. Intro bonus was 80k. All my others are Navy Federal. I’m bowing out after adding Gold, one hotel card, and probably Chase Freedom Unlimited. I’ll work those for the long haul. Chase has that monthly Pelaton credit. So I can do without Plat Amex for $695 annual fee.

Amex had my cc number within 20 minutes saying I could add it or start online shopping IMMEDIATELY! Like calm down there guys :heh:
I applied for the gold back in 19 at the airport on my way back to Germany. Same thing happened. I had the CC number before my flight took off. I been sleeping tho because I haven't used it once.
