Biz had 88 on smash thats why the list is bullshyt.

Biz had 5 hits that year. Op isn't qualified to make a proper 88 thread.

Dude has cube and Too short but not one of the bigggest rappers of 88?:mindblown:

Biz was bigger than Cube and Too short and Kool Keith in 88
Was he in talks as the best rapper in 88?
And Kane wrote his rhymes.

This is Rakim, easily.

If not The God, it's BDK.

You could make the case for Biz. But Kane wrote those records too. LOL!!

I didn't wanna say anything :pachaha:

But when you add in roxanne shantes stuff with biz's stuff kane was holding down '88 on three fronts with his own music plus the ghostwriting.

No Fresh Prince no Biz Markie?

But you'll put cube who wasn't even solo:what:

Thread fail.

Ya'll should have flava flav on that list along with Chuck d.

Flav was the stand out of the group and he was waaaaaaay bigger than cube in 88.

But most of ya'll weren't there and wouldn't know that:francis:

This list is really shytty
If someone says they want to vote for them, @Inspect Her Deck will add them.

You weren't there.

Eazy was the star of NWA he came out first . Eazy had the world thinking he was a teen , that was his appeal Cube came later. There's no way Cube stood out over Eazy in 88.

As for what album u liked better thats irrelevant because as big as Ain't No Half Steppin was Kane did not have singles like Slick Rick

I dare u to say Half Steppin had the streets like Children Story.

Kane couldn't do a follow up single on a classic level like Slick Rick

Kane couldn't do a 3rd single on a classic level like Slick Rick

As for classic cuts that became singles with no video Mona Lisa will always be bigger than Kane s classic 'Raw'

:what::what::what:

ricky d had the empire behind him called def jam
while Kane was on some lil starter up label called cold chillen

with that said Kane still had the streetz on smash
and let me reiterate my original statement when this whole process is being created I clearly stated said rapper shouldnt be place into a year only based off his album was released in that said year
this is the perfect example ricks LP drop'd very late '88
Kane LP drop'd before the summer of '88

@Inspect Her Deck @mobbinfms

BTW

>>> 'young world' & 'teenage love' ((even tho Rick play'd Kane in his vid))

rob base looking like this nikka :comeon:

but on da real, 'it takes two' might been a bigger party song due to the element of dance
BUT on dem streetz, in dem clubs, on da radio 'ain't no half steppin' ruled !!!

No

On the streets , radio and clubs It Takes 2 was dominant.

It Takes 2 had the elders and the kids. Ain't No Half steppin didn't.

88. To me that was the golden time in hip hop.

Sooooo much piff that year. My all time fav duo Epmd. U had the Juice Crew dropping piff. Krs 1. Pe :wow:

Not to mention the fun acts like Biz, Kid n Play, Etc.

Im a Kane stan.. but i had to give it to Rakim the god. Very slim margin but he was too raw.:mjcry:

As far as Slick Rick, he started the year and closed it out. The Rulers Back (single) was heavy the top of 88. And mind you, he came back after a 2 year hiatus. Then he closed out the year with the album and singles (Children Story, Hey Young World, Teenage Love, Mona Lisa (no video) So I could see him getting the MVP for that year because it was really a comeback year for him

:salute:

This response sounds like someone who actually experienced 88.
