Lived there until 2010 before moving to Vancouver.

Sad that 80k cant even get you a good house in L.A. This city is so frustrating.

Pasadena, the valley, inglewood, west l.a are all nice places. Just put in how much you want to pay for rent. I say if you want to live relatively crime free you should be paying 13 to 1500 and up a month in rent.

I'm partial to 90036 and 90019. Specifically the Mircale Mile. Olympic, Wilshire, and 3rd St give you a straight shot bus ride into downtown

Damn near zero gang activity in the 90036 too. Close to Beverly Center, the Grove, Century City and not too far from Hollywood & Highland either.

I love this area and all, and spend a lot of time here, but god damn the traffic is wack. I used to live off santa monica and highland fukk that. When I lived in Noho I could just park at the redline, go 2 stops down and do my thing on hollywood blvd. Hollywood and Sunset were my playgrounds, but I just couldnt live over there anymore. Studio City/Noho have a good chunk of young professional black people. Lotta people dont know about that, but just look around and youll see a few barbershops and comedy spots.

The westside like santa monica is coo but they have no night life (for straight people) :mjpls:

edit: also a little valley secret, if you wanna get to 3rd st or the beverly center area, you can hit up ventura blvd, then jump on beverly glen and track over the hill, that way you avoid the 405. you can be there in 20min. :myman:

I wouldnt want to live by Santa Monica & Highland either. I prefer the Olympic & LaBrea area (grew up there), starting to get bougie but still got enough hood for me to feel comfortable.

You can hit every major North/South artery on Olympic:
- La Brea will take you Hollywood to the north, or 10 Fwy to the south
- Hop on Venice and head West then head south on LaCienega for Culver City, or keep heading south to hit LaDera Heights or LAX
- East on Olympic to Highland and head north for Hollywood, Studio City, etc
- West on Olympic to Beverly Hills and Century City

Good hospitals around, LaBrea tarpits is close by. And alot less "bad" traffic than most other areas.
Just don't think you can buy a house in that area on the low.

Studio City, Sherman Oaks, some parts of North Hollywood, Burbank, Silver Lake, and Toluca Lake, Glendale, Pasadena(old)

enjoy.
Basically this

Stay the fukk out of woodland hills or anything past Sepulveda Blvd. in the valley, way too much traffic. TBH. Downtown LA isn't too bad. There's tons of clubs and bars out there.

Look for places in this descending order to avoid traffic: Silver Lake > Pasadena(old) > Glendale > Burbank > Toluca Lake > Studio City > North Hollywood....

Rush hour traffic is no joke. Not to mention depending on where you live there might be a heavy concentration of traffic on the weekends too, or you may have trouble finding parking for the simplest of things.
