That's why I tell folks to follow their dreams because its now or never. This thread made me realize that I made a good decision leaving before we got to this point. Right now its rough as hell around these parts but joy comes in the morning

Yeah I remember I wanted to work at Best Buy in high school and they didn't show a breh any love

But now I have a cushy SysAdmin job while some of the same people they hired over me still work there

Yeah BB has this weird clique "toot noise" attitude to newcomers and youngins. Me on the other hand they knew better . One dude I worked with was livid at the fact that folks had high and mighty attitudes, I told him "in this store you got to Do for Self".

Breh looked like Neo from The Matrix at these revelations because while folks can help each other from times, you got to do for self in that shytty place especially with them dumb ass customers.

To think I actually thought about making a career in that place.

Thank God I woke up and smelled the coffee

When I was working at Micro Center in my teen years, the vendors would always shyt on them saying they never paid them and how they were firing they top earners or freezing they pay.

Best Buy has a weird hiring practice. Honestly, the best time to actually get a gig at BB is to come in as Seasonal and work your ass off.

That's what I did and ended up getting hired with like 2 people out of the 16 that they used for seasonal. I started out in Home Theater and my supervisor at the time noticed how good I was with selling computers that they threw me in PC which was all around hell, but wayyy better than working with those lazy asses in Home Theater.

But yeah I agree with the "fukk Best Buy" statement

It was definitely some elitist shyt
And this was back in 05
When I had to move back to Houston
A brotha was scrambling because of my degree
shyt was hard to find in my field
So I just needed something to get me on my feet
While looking for other shyt
Stayed 3 full fukkery filled years
They are doing the same thing now
As what they did then with hours(excluding closing stores)
And it really wasn’t worth the work
With idiot customers believing you worked on commission
When actually trying to get them the right equipment
Worked in Cameras before they merged the games/cds/dvds department
My last year I was a menace
I didn’t give a shyt how I talked to customers
Walk the department at closing
fukk you talking bout
I would just roll at 9:30pm
With the last customers
Talk about being late
Cheating lunch clock outs
Had a scheme with loss prevention/receivers
Taking all kinds of video games and movies
Put my two week notice in
And was let go two days later
Because of a “complaint” from some god awful Indian
Who wanted me to tell him all this information
Then run his ass to Frys
Gave my cac manager the keys
Threw my shirt at him
And never walked in there again
Saw the same two managers
Two years later
Cac wouldn’t even look me in the eye
The breh manager was
I should have left when you left
Felt great that day

For some reason store management be feeling themselves too much. Like your top position pay is a typical entry level IT pay position

I was just thinking this. I remember my boy worked at a Best Buy back in the day. When they put the pressure on Circuit City he was

Even that "15 dollar raise" they gave Best Buy reps was a facade because they gutted the everlasting hell out of hours. Even folks that worked fulltime ended up getting guaranteed hours cut to damn near 30 to 20.

Walmart pulled that shyt when they were talking about raising it during Obama's term.

They sliced our hours up like a pie, just to get around paying us health care and other benefits.

Raising the minimum wage isn't the only answer, these companies have to get hit with actual stipulations so the employees don't get got in the process.

That two weeks of not giving damns is like a huge sugar rush. I walked through the store like my shyt smelled of the littest eucalyptus leaves. My supervisor could not look me in the eye and just kept talking about "you not going anywhere", while my asst manager swore I am leaving because of him...which was yes and no because he was a walking failure . I sold my ass off those two weeks . Reps were all like "YOU LEAVING US??"

That last day, I sold two Surface Duos, gave hugs and daps like I was bowing out from the game, and did not come back on my final day.
