Police departments are taking up almost half the general budget in cities.

Police are grossly over funded and at the expense of other community efforts that provide a more direct impact on people's lives.

No conversation around police reform should take place without first cutting their budget.

@Rhakim

Sounds like you're really entrenched in getting this wealth and skills transfer done for the white middle class for whatever reason. There's nothing progressive in that.
This is super saiyon shyt-posting. Your Hillary-stanning ass is OBSESSED with getting the middle-class more money and now you're trying to judo-force that into an attack on me? :laff::laff::laff:

I've repeatedly shyt on middle-class bytching, while these are all YOUR threads that YOU started.

Public servants are losing their foothold in the middle class

Literally an article about us not paying public servants enough that you posted with the commentary "not good", the article even includes a line about high numbers of police vacancies. :dead:

This is why the middle class can't get ahead

What happened to middle class America?

Why middle class Americans can't afford to live in liberal cities

Congressional budgets make middle class economic security even more unaffordable

GOP Rep. has no answer for why Republicans won't vote for middle-class tax cuts

All your threads. :heh:

[I'm not sure why you're continuing to misconstrue my arguments but my post history speaks for itself.
It definitely does. :francis:

You claimed Bernie was "fence-sitting", but in 8 years of posting you didn't have a single post that offered a more radical program for police reform or EVER criticized any of your centrist heroes for their weak-ass failure to pursue the police reforms that Bernie has been calling for for years.

I don't have anything against police. I believe in police reform. I think the police force should reflect the population of the community. For example in east LA, I'd say half of the police are hispanic (for linguistic reasons but still). I think it makes sense that way, same goes for teachers. I think it makes 'some citizens' feel more comfortable. When south central has like 90% white police from the burbs, I can understand why they're scared (unfamiliar with area, people, culture). and why the citizens are stand offish too. Imagine if Beverly Hills had 90% big ass stone cold looking black cops patrolling their neighborhood, how would that feel. Think about it. Actually I did and I bet Karen wouldnt call the cops. now you know why black people dont call the police.

REFORM

LAPD is actually only 1/3 White now, fwiw.

abolishing is what im reading in the title. read what I wrote again.

I just appeared in this thread.
It's a sensationalist headline.

The actual discussion is around his opposition to defunding the police while also proposing we pay officers more which would certainly increase their funding.

and altho that may seem to reflect the city, it really doesn't because the small sections of black left...are mostly white, hispanic or white sheriffs who cover the in between districts. and they are almost all white.

meanwhile they got sprinkles of black cops in the tourist areas and brentwood or some shyt. ive never in my life seen just 2 black cops in a car together.

My issue is that Bernie wants to invest more in the police(an already bloated system) that has broken the public trust instead of the communities they're supposed to protect that desperately need funding for education, housing, and healthcare/mental health.

I'm not sure how you're finding fault in this?

well even defund sounds sensationalized. I would call it 'allocating funds' or some shyt. trump supporters would fumble on that one.

I doubt many politicians are using that wording who want police reform, left twitter or whatever are using it to popularize it and the right are using it to demonize people who want police reform.

I'm just responding to what you said about South LA, it sure ain't 90% White cops in there. :hubie:

I'm not disputing anything you say about chiefs/sheriffs or the fact that LAPD, LASD, and Inglewood PD have all been a shytshow for as long as I've been here. :shaq2:
you seeing hella black cops? cause some of the hispanics i see, no different than white :manny:

anyways back to the thread: reason to defund

Maybe you pay officers more but you have less of them. And their roles ain’t the all encompassing shid show we have now.

He’s on the record saying he’s not calling for more money to police.

We have 18,000 different police jurisdictions too.
