Absolute foolishness to sign Higgins :mjlol:

1- You NEVER pay big money to a #2. Even if he’s Jerry rice, just by simple math he can’t possibly recoup that value

2- WRs are the new RBs. You can draft one and they come hit thr ground running. And that’s even easier when all you need is a #2. See Jordan Addison. The hit rate on 1st round WRs is very high. Even a 2nd rounder too. Plus

2b- When Burrow is your QB and Chase is your #1, it makes it that much easier to hit on a #2 WR. (Again, see Jordan Addison). Imagine Brian Thomas, Ladd, Keon Coleman as your #2. (Luther burden, Egbuka, golden). They’d be literally just as good on offense for 100M less

This is why you don’t let emotion get in thr way of good GM’ing

I thought the Bengals owner is cheap and they always let their talent leave?

He is. If they followed normal procedure and lowballed Chase & Higgins Burrow is absolutely demanding to be traded.

Bengals are in this position because they were cheap in the first place. Chase should've had an extension done last year and it would've been 10 mil a season less but they didn't want to guarantee any money beyond the first year of the deal. I think these deals are the first time the Bengals have ever guaranteed money beyond the first year of a contract to a non-QB.

That’s a different conversation as you’re talking about LAST year. This is about what they did at this current point in time. When your franchise QB wants deals done for his top weapons, GM’s and ownership will likely listen.

Nah, we're not doing that.

They dragged this out for 2 years so you can't act like it's a now problem. You need to either sign players when they're eligible for an extension or trade them.

They don't have to do anything Burrow wants. What's he going to do demand trade because they moved Tee? You think Mahomes wanted Reek traded? The team did what they needed to do which was not overpay a skill position when the defense needed help. KC won twice since.

You had Tee and Chase and went nowhere largely because the defense was sorry. Now they're eating up a chunk of the cap and you haven't addressed the rest of your flaws. A #2 WR could've come in the form of a rookie or a low cost vet.

Ball in Joe's court now

Don't be mad when that def ain't up to par or u catchin' licks left & right cuz the line 🗑️. Just gonna have to produce

I can trust Burrow to make offseason improvements.
Since the margins are slim, I'm guessing limiting turnovers.

Just from a passing volume wise its insane he had less than 10 interceptions.

Josh might've won MVP, but Burrow had a better season. [...don't mind Josh winning MVP]

Higgins and Chase signing early in the off-season should lead to a solid start of their season.

Idiotic team building. You had to pay Chase, I get it. But being roped into paying Higgins when you could have just drafted a really good WR high next month is wild. Ebuka, Burden, Golden, Ayomanor, Higgins...pick one. Hell it looks like Tet McMillan is falling, he might be there in the first round lol.

They're gonna outscore everyone and make the playoffs? We already know how his ends: one guy gets hurt or they start slow, then spend the second half of the season digging out a hole.

Folks seem to forget we drafted that Jermaine Burton kid last year and he ain't do shyt. Nikka was getting benched for being late to practice and shyt. Now we can focus our efforts on drafting new blood on defense and the O-line to build them units back up.

The concept of keeping your WRs is fine, it's a weapons league. That's why Brady had Evans/Godwin and still pushed for AB, the Rams had Kupp at his peak and still brought in Odell, Eagles have been to two SBs in three years with Brown & Smith, etc - that whole "KC traded Tyreek and still won" argument is silly, they have a legendary HC-QB-DC trio. You can't try and follow what they do.

The issue for Cincinnati was the process, they handled this terribly and severely handcuffed how they navigate building the roster the next few years.

Sounds like NBA teams trying to copy the peak Warriors without two top 5 all time shooters.

He was a known knucklehead before the draft

Joes problem is situational football. He has issues with putting games away .
