I think the problem with us isn't that black parents aren't beating their kids, but because in every household there's only one black parent 95% of the time

Black men are abandoning their kids and now the kids are being punished for the dysfunction this creates which is sickening

We got enough kids growing up thinking they are untouchable and hiding behind guns simply because no one ever disciplined them the right way if at all. This isn't a black people problem, or slave mentality its common sense. Pain lets you know that what you did wrong, and what you probably shouldn't do again. You think that Hot stove cares what color or you ideologies about pain? It'll teach your kid a quick lesson about the do's and don'ts and your kid will get the point with no love lost.

Nowadays punishing a kid is almost useless at a certain age, there are to many ways to get around, access, or just entertain yourself.

Again, if beating kids worked why are we not winning? People have not stopped beating their kids. Discipline, consistency and developmentally appropriate correction is necessary, not beatings. In Jamaica we were beat in schools by the teachers, this while Jamaica had the1st or second highest murder rate in the world. Parenting takes time to implement and instill your values and expectations to a child. If a child is blatantly disrespectfully yelling and swearing, then the parent has already failed. I am a therapist with over a decade experience with working with children with behavioral problems. From kids in juvenile prisons, hospitals, those who have experienced trauma, to schizophrenia, ADHD, ODD, etc. Beatings never made these problems better. Love, patience, support ( in multiple spheres of their lives) structure and consistency did. As well as giving the overwhelmed parents the right tools for managing and teaching acceptable behaviors. Never have I said to a parent, "you know what you need to do is beat your kid more.'

No, all the whoopings in the world won't change some kids or people. That's up to the parent to determine, saying they shouldn't be used when there are plenty of examples being giving where people are saying whoopings got there mind right should say something for spankings.

I don't know why people feel like everything has to be a all or nothing. Spankings aren't going to work for every kid, doesn't mean you shouldn't apply it, same for punishments.
