xbox stops being a console to compete directly with sony and becomes just a cloud-based app that can be run on anything. gaming PC, tablet, phone, smart tv, smart home/chatgpt box, etc. you no longer have to spend money on computing power, just a great internet connection, so that could be the advantage.

computing will be done on the cloud and they will still sell xbox controllers, accessories, gamepass, etc.

And 4k 120p hell, 4k 60p will no longer matter to Xbots.
I heard the human eye can’t even see 4k anyway so there you go.

If Microsoft were to make another system, they will have to actually let the Xbox division run like a gaming division, which is something they don't want to do. They would have to give consumers an actual reason to give a damn about Xbox as a console and as a brand. If they want game pass subs to increase and hit the expect number they told their shareholders, they got to get consumers to buy the Series X and get them to buy game. Hardware sales pushes game sales that pushes GP subs.

Activision Blizzard King ain't finna keep the Xbox brand nor game sales up float forever.

To me, it almost seems like there’s no real in-roads for them.

Cloud - still premature in tech and inaccessible to large groups of people

Mobile - gotta go through Apple pretty much who are fighting every step of the way to make it unfeasible for them

Handheld/hyrbid - compete with Nintendo who have dominated for 40 years, on top of valve and the other mobile pc handhelds

PC - steam, its not happening

Console - they can’t compete with sony

Feel like they are naturally getting pushed out the business as a platform holder

Atari kept coming back from the dead like Jean Grey though, even tried a couple rebrands

They will make one for next generation, not sure after that. There was a report where they said they would let others make it for them, and I think that is where they are headed. Phil Spencer and team have shown zero dedication to the device.
