People really in here now acting like Batman wasn't killing it at the box office as far back as 1989? :russ:

'89 Batman made over $450 million worldwide more than 25 years ago. There are probably at least five blockbusters slated for release this year that studios wish could touch that number.

that's not true, i posted the number, but why pay attention to actual numbers, when you can just make shyt up lol...

side note - this a prime example of yall cats making shyt up just to make yall point...just like the cat that said people are downplaying bats/supe popularity....no one said that shyt, especially not me...but again, why pay attention to what was actually said, when it's better to make shyt up to make a point lol....

...yall cats a trip....

it is a 'what if' cause you're saying if everything stayed the same but the money, which is bullshyt and not really a good judge cause how probable is it everything is gonna stay the same but the money?...exactly...that's why you should just go by what it did, when it did it....which includes money, the number of screens, box office landscape, etc...

You need to follow your own advice when it comes to the bolded.

How much do you think tickets cost almost 30 years ago? Why do you think the budget for the first Burton Batman is only $35M?

$400M in 1989 isn't the same as $400M in 2016. I'm sorry you can't grasp that.

they were 2 team up movies and 1 iron man movie following one of those team up movies...your point?...if you saying iron man was the drawing factor for the team up movies, lol ok you can think that...
How isn't he ? Winter Soldier was a team up movie and didn't see a billy. Antman followed a team up and didn't see a billy either. There is one common person in all of the top 3. What is it a coincidence?

winter solider wasnt a team up movie like avengers, BvS, CW...true, ant-man did follow a team up movie, but he wasnt an established character movie audiences knew, he was being introduced...put an established character people know in that slot, and see what happens....is it a coincidence? no, he's part of the reason, but not the main reason like you trying to say, especially for the team-up movies...the draw for the team-up movies is the team-up, no individual person....people dont go to avengers just for iron man, capt, hulk, etc., they go to see them all on screen at once...just like people didnt go see BvS for 1 nor are they going to see CW for 1....it's the collection that's the draw...but like i said: you can keep thinking what you want.....

He's got three billy movies and on his way to what six before 2020? No one else will even be in the ball park to make that claim by then.

another example of yall cats making shyt up to try to make a point...i've said multiple times now i'd include the 89 batman film as one of his monster draws, so what are you talking about and why are you feeling sorry?....and how does that explain the fact that despite inflation, increase in screens, change in box office landscape, etc., 4 of the movies following that made significantly less money...it doesnt....but i know, since it doesnt, you're gonna keep ignoring that and keep harping on a film that i've already agreed was a box office monster...

and to be clear: i'm not downplaying bats popularity...i've said multiple times he still is one of the most popular figures....him and supe are probably the top 2....i've just been pointing out that you shouldnt tie popularity to movie returns for these 2 characters, like some have tried to...

yes, he has 3 billy movies right now....capt, nick fury, black widow, and the other avengers have 2 as well....doesnt that mean they are just as much a draw for those movies as iron man since they in those movies?....or are you really gonna say his 1 movie difference is that big of a difference while ignoring it came out right after avengers?....

as for future movies: just like the movies now, they will include multiple people from the avengers, which further points to the collection being the draw, not 1 individual person....

lets talk about right now, not what ifs (even if it's more than likely avengers 3 and CW will get a billy)...yes, he has 3 billy movies right now....capt, nick fury, black widow, and the other avengers have 2 as well....doesnt that mean they are just as much a draw for those movies as iron man since they in those movies?....or are you really gonna say his 1 movie difference is that big of a difference while ignoring it came out right after avengers?....
Uh no, Cap, Nick Fury and Black widow were all in a movie together and it didn't do a billy and it is one of the most critically acclaimed Marvel movies. You tell me what was the missing ingredient for Winter Soldier was that it didn't get to a billy?
Until a comic movie not featuring Batman or Ironman makes a billy you got to give them top of the food chain. And Batman has just faltered on that account he is trailing Ironman now.

so critical acclaim should equal box office return? interesting......and like i thought: you gonna hold on to that 1 movie lol...aight man, whatever you say...

If WB/DC and Zach Snyder played it more humble maybe people wouldn't be pointing and laughing now. They made the claim, 'We are different than the current superhero movies cause we have icons, not flavor of the month heroes like Antman.' Or purposely trying to release it the same day as A Marvel movie.
And yeah Supes and Bats may be the most recognizable but check the scoreboard who is getting the most love out here? Financially and critically the people have moved on.
Tony Stark guarantees a billion and a fresh tomato. :smugdraper:
But this movie did make more than most MCU films including Ant-Man:what:
