Agility is affected greatly by height, the smaller you are, the lower your centre of gravity, the lower your centre gravity, the easier it is for you to make sharp turns at high speed without losing balance. It's one of the reasons gymnasts are short.
A lot of footballers beat their opponents by making sharp turns at high speeds, Messi most especially.
Hence the statement "being that big". Basketball Players are Metahumans compared to manlet ass soccer players.

soccer players run on average 7 miles a game .... with only 1 15 minute break at half time

basketball players run on average 2.5 miles per game , with time outs , half time break plus being able to rest on the bench

anyone who said basketball players have to be more athletic obviously doent know the true definition of the word athlete
Nah y'all got your definition of athleticism mixed up. Marathon runners cover 26.2 miles, I guess that makes them the most athletic. :comeon:
How many miles does a Boxer cover in a bout? Yet they are widely regarded as the best athletes.

not a soccer hater but how does it take more skill than basketball? anyone off the street can go out on a field and kick a soccer ball with an empty goal into the goal from 20 feet away. a random person off the street won't be able to shoot a hoop from 20 feet away unguarded. unless they hoop
No they cant.

Even learning how to properly strike the ball with your foot takes a good amount of practice.
And soccer has goalies so you're going to have to aim that kick.

Have you ever seen someone who doesn't play soccer kick a ball?

Toe pokes with 0 accuracy

An athlete (also sportsman or sportswoman) is a person who competes in one or more sports that involve physical strength, speed or endurance.

more is required from an athlete to actively participate professionally in a real football/soccer field. ever played indoor football/ 5-a-side? space is more or less the size of a basketball court, explosive speeds but still those who excel i that are usually failed amateur or professional real full football/soccer players. football is no joke.

Maradona always gets slandered in these debates because of his height. He possibly had the greatest first touch in footballs history. I'd rank him and Zidane 1 & 2 on first touch.

The ability to receive a pass of any weight anywhere on the pitch :wow:

DeAndre Jordan was 1st team All NBA, that's all I'll say on the relative skill level to excel at basketball

Good points. In the NBA, skill separates the "good" mid-level All Star players from the truly great GOAT-ish players.

However the barrier to entry is much lower in hoops. You CAN get to the league with modest skill and crazy athleticism...assuming you're tall enough. The height thing limits the pool of talent right from the jump. In soccer, you have to be skilled to stand out. Modest skill and great athleticism might get you on Team USA, but that's it.

This is wrong, considering the tallest whites and africans on the planet can't won't dominate or compete in basketball.
Soccer gives mestizo and natives a fair chance.
Both groups have NO representation outside of baseball/"futbol". They're sluggish, small, and weak...repetitive kicking and running, witha few jumps a game...vs a game based on jump shots and guarding at high speed with a big body...for 4 quarters.
