Athleticism it's pretty close and I can make a case for both but I'll go with basketball.

Skill probably football.

There's alot of:mjpls: in these comments.

If the NBA was a majority white sport. There wouldn't be all this athlete vs skill talk.

Also picking up a game and excelling is the exception and only applicable to big men. Their size is the reason not their skill aptitude.

Take the top 20 non big men in the league and I guarantee you they've been playing ball since a very early age.
Josh okogie and elie okobo are two guards who are expected to be drafted into the nba this year and they both didn’t start fr hooping until 16

Elfrid payton isn’t a top 20 player, but he walked on at UL and people didn’t even know who he was, many say he didn’t even start varsity in hs.

And historically, Steve francis and John starks both were all stars in the nba and started in their teens.

There’s also andre roberson(okc thunder) and jimmy butler.
Though they’re wings.

That’s just off the top of my head, but people under estimate that you can be a good hooper by just being more athletic than others:yeshrug:

Those are exceptions and not good ones.

There are only two players on that list worth discussing.

If you don't start playing soccer by 5-6 years old you are fukked, you'll be so far behind your peers technically you might as well have bricks tied to your ankles.
Soccer easily, Teams only get 3 subs a match, one 15 minute break and no timeouts too, your stamina and endurance needs to be, frankly, godly.
Basketball players are more explosive though.

basketball takes break every 5 minutes compared to soccer where the field is MUCH bigger and are constantly sprinting for two 45 minutes halves

The top players like Messi, Ronaldo etc arent even the top athletes in the sport. Theres loads of guys who are great athletes in soccer but theres not good players so they play in the smaller leagues

One example of the top of my head is Adama Traore, breh is super explosive but thats pretty much it

You forget about Adriano :whoo:

Being that big and being so agile, explosive and light on your feet is athleticism.
A soccer 7'0 footer is just awkward.
Agility is affected greatly by height, the smaller you are, the lower your centre of gravity, the lower your centre gravity, the easier it is for you to make sharp turns at high speed without losing balance. It's one of the reasons gymnasts are short.
A lot of footballers beat their opponents by making sharp turns at high speeds, Messi most especially.

soccer players run on average 7 miles a game .... with only 1 15 minute break at half time

basketball players run on average 2.5 miles per game , with time outs , half time break plus being able to rest on the bench

anyone who said basketball players have to be more athletic obviously doent know the true definition of the word athlete
