I'm gonna give it a good run this weekend if I can find the time. I've done the tutorial area so far...it's cool but feels a little bland. Game looks pretty damn good though.

I like how forgiving platforming is. in general movement feels so good
I don’t think “forgiving” is the correct word.

I would use “empowering”

This is an underrated aspect in lots of games to me.

Some games restrict your movement/platfroming to very specific locations and events, invisible walls, and climbing restricted to only certain obstacles.

Some games like Avowed give you the traversal tools and let you climb pretty much anything your tools allow you to reach.

The latter makes for a much more engaging and fun experience imo.

For me, that’s been the standout “next gen” feature in a lot of games. We get the level of detail and control of a closed space linear game, in a large sprawling game like avowed, the type of game that used to be relegated to pretty much flat and non-interactive level design.

Played about 10 minutes last night, still at the entry phase. Game feels somewhere janky, definitely switch to performance settings. Graphics are OK, but I only got 10 minutes of gameplay in. I got to say, the dialogue has potential, seems like you can role play the type of person you want to be. It would be nice if your character can speak. The combat seemed like over simplified Skyrim trash at first, but my guy did some type of finishing combo and I'm thinking there might be a lot of potential. :patrice:

One Youtuber said the story is boring, but Idk yet, seems pretty interesting to me. I don't understand all of it, but is there some time of fungus going around??

If you are playing on balanced you gotta check “unlock framerate” for the best performance of you have a TV with VRR

been playing on early access and I’ve had the week off so I ended up locking in and beating this :mjlol:

Very addicting and fun game. One thing I will say is that as you get access to the more powerful spells and more enemies out to get your there can be frame drops.

The customization you have access to by the end is incredible and a nice touch they have is that you can purchase all your ability points back to redistribute them how you see fit. Exploration is rewarded handsomely with the gear that you get so make sure to check everywhere and do as many of the side quests as you can.

Never played the elder scrolls games but I did play the OG Mass Effect trilogy and the story for this one is pretty much inline with that in terms of depth. Like said earlier in the thread they even have Garrus’ VA doing some work here if you’re a fan.

Frame drops keep it from being perfect and maybe you could nitpick some of the enemy variety but overall I’d give this one no less than an 8.5/10 and would lean towards 9. Obsidian’s got alot of room to work in this universe and Microsoft if they’re smart should give them all the room in the world to keep cooking.

Even thinking about finally playing Outer Worlds this game was so good.

Outer worlds was good, but i’d say avowed is a lot better. You could kinda feel they had a limited budget with outer worlds.

I still enjoyed it, but now after playing avowed, i can see how their formula has improved.

Looking forward to outer worlds 2 which is supposed to come out later this year :blessed:

Its a shame Epic is paying devs to use their shytty engine, Redengine is so much better but Witcher 4 is gonna run on that stutter fest pos engine.

Finally, I played this game for a brief few hours ago. I'm surprised this game has a 3rd person view option, so I'm glad they gave us the camera view options. I'll make judge of this game when I play it more.

Is this the best way to play (XSX)

My girl been playing since launch, but she's not hip on frame rates. Was recently playing evil west in 30fps mode, i had to school her on the performance mode. So i know she don't know what's best here :francis:

I’m playing on balanced.

With a VRR set you get close enough to 60fps for it to feel smooth in most situations.

Performance mode locks to 60fps more often but shadows and reflections take a huge it.

I think balanced wit a good TV is the best mode.

If you don’t have a VRR set then performance is best.
