I didnt think much of the game when i first started the 3rd person movement was janky as fukk initially, and im not messing with 1st person. I was mowing through the combat at first with a spear and a shield but then i switched to a spear and and an axe and was doing even better until i got in a real fight. With no defense i ran into a camp of enemies and had the low ground and got WASHED a few times. I had to change my strategy while still having no defense, the combat was intense and brutal and is great to play through.

I understand it now.

Edit: and walking up on bears and slapping the shyt out of them never gets old :mjlol:

I have played this way too much this weekend. 2H still annihilating people. Got this heavy armor that boosts the companions attacks 20%. I was surprised at one point I had used an AOE on everybody then took on the big . And when I turned around my 2 had took care of the minions. Legit put my controller down gave those usually worthless bozos a couple of claps :dead:

Versatility in combat combined with it being so cheap to respec has me just experimenting and having fun. Done with all the bounties and side missions in the second area and just gonna finish progressing the main story

Edit: just finished the second area. Surprised at the option they gave me. It was glorious :ohlawd:
One thing I learned before before leaving dawn shore is upgrade your regular weapons! this isn't like other obsidian games when weapons and shyt are plentiful but in this game its not until until the later half of the game.

especially when you realize certain materials only exist in that specific area

Game is just pure fun to play.

A lot of the common RPG tropes are thrown out or slimmed down but this game is making me realize a lot of that is just tedium for the sake of it.

You don’t have to slow walk miles cause you picked up too many weapons, you can just hit to transport them to your storage box from anywhere.

Sprint isn’t tied to your stamina so you can make it across the world quickly without the added annoyance of stopping to rest.

You don’t spend a bunch of time in menu’s and maps upgrade screens etc. Everything is streamlined and quick.

I personally love system heavy games. Like recently i had a great time with stalker. But the instant fun and addicting gameplay loop of this game feels refreshing. I’m glad they did it this way instead of trying to make a bethesda clone :ehh:
