I think this is more of an attack on Netflix than anything. They shytted on Punisher too if I remember correctly. Just finished watching this and it was pretty good IMO. The sequel ought to really flesh the story out and do more world building.

Maybe I'm naive but I see it as an attack on films not being released theatricality more than Netflix, reviewers love Amazon flicks. Reviewers live and die by being able to see movies earlier than fans do on a big screen. Any other way and critics become useless.

For good movies but remember they have to watch everything meaning trash movies and bad kid movies. Most people will only go to the theaters 5 to 6 times a year, even less if they have kids.

I feel like this everyday in here I just don't understand why people are so obsessed with the opinions of other people. Either you like the movie or don't. If someone who watches movies for a living dislikes something you love, or vice versa, so the fukk what. Grow up, move on. That's life. But the amount of disdain critics get on this site juxtaposed with the amount of attention they get is mind boggling.

Yeah and I hear that. But I’m talking specifically in this place where it’s always fukk a critic until it’s not. Either we care or we don’t but playing footsie with it is ridiculous.

And as far as the mass public goes, there are times when critic opinion doesn’t mean shyt. The transformers series, the pirates series, and other series in the long history of film have dealt with bad reviews while the cash registers kept churning. The people and their money will always decide. Netflix already green lit another bright so they don’t give a shyt. If you fukk with bright you’ll get more bright.

There isn't more of a divide, it's just that for whatever reason people are just paying more attention to the scores now.


Critics actually did shyt on Coming to America when it first came out. The studio actually promoted it less because the early reviews were so bad.

Harlem Nights got really bad reviews too.

A lot of Eddie Murphy’s primarily “Black” films got shytted on outside of Dreamgirls.

I think the movie would have actually worked better as a miniseries. But overall Will Smith and Denzel are two actors who will always entertain you regardless.
