Audiences seem to love Netflix's new movie "Bright" as much as critics hate it

My whole family liked it, the fact that critics came out against it and everyone I know enjoyed it makes me believe that there really is a plan by hollywood to undermine it.

It's like they tried to create a narritive that it was bad, My guy was making jokes about it on twitter, I texted him to ask why he didn't like it, and he straight up said he hadn't seen it and was just making jokes cause "they" say it's supposed to be bad.

I think the movie would have actually worked better as a miniseries. But overall Will Smith and Denzel are two actors who will always entertain you regardless.

why would anyone slow netflix down from making original content? no one is singling them out. there are hundred of studios out there making movies.

It wasn't bad. It was creative. It kept the story and action moving. Good visuals. The villain and her crew were out cold. There was some changes that could have been made. They didn't explain the back story all the way.

paying 9.99 vs paying how ever much it is to go watch a movie at a theater near you.

look up how much they charge theaters to show a movie. thats why theater snacks and drinks costs so much.

if actors are going to netflix/hulu and shyt to make movies hollywood is fukked cus theaters will die out.

The movie was a mismash of District 9, Zootopia, End of Watch, Fables (a comic book), and Grimm (a TV show)...

Of course the general audience would like it, the general public don't like things that are different. The more familiar and derivative something is, the more they will like it. That's why Hollywood these days don't even try hard to make something original. That's why we got 2 Michael Jackson incarnations in Bruno Mars and the Weeknd singing great value Michael Jackson songs.

Now critics...aren't gonna be like...

Well this reminds of me of 8 other different properties..thus it is good. They are gonna say it's trash just because it is familiar. That's just the way critics work. Critics look for originality and scope and execution.

And the general audience probably not even aware of the different properties where a storyline or concept was executed.

I finally got around to watching this w/ the wife last night. I thoroughly enjoyed it and look forward to the sequel. It's pretty obvious that the critic reviews were politically motivated. It was nowhere near the debacle they claimed it was, and its interesting as to what motivated them as a collective unit to target this film. The damning reviews they attempted to push out of the gate were absolutely calculated.

How are they gonna say it looks like an expensive flop due to it's critical rating, when Netflix don't release their subscription numbers or viewing figures for individual shows and movies, which is what actually matters
