For all the "fukk Critics, nobody cares what they think" talk, there sure do seem to be a bunch of people that obsess over what critics think about movies.

You either care or you don't care, but a lot people are talking out of both sides of they mouth when it comes to this shyt.

The obsession with (and lack of understanding of) Rotton tomatoes scores is particularly annoying.

Same goes for the conspiracy theories about critics being paid off. That shyt makes no fukking sense if you bother to put even an ounce of reasonable thought into it.

How are they gonna say it looks like an expensive flop due to it's critical rating, when Netflix don't release their subscription numbers or viewing figures for individual shows and movies, which is what actually matters:what:

Speaking of. SAG and SWG need to make these fakkits release numbers or go on strike. Netflix got the most important numbers in a negotiation. :dahell:

this fukkin divide and backlash against critics these days is so representative of the fukkin bullshyt time we live in. everything is "me vs. them" to the most extreme degree and everyone is an a$$hole. tired of this bullshyt. not everything needs to become a political battle.

i'm not living and dying on critical response, but this viewer thought Bright was meh as a motherfukker. same "Hot Topic" audience who thought Suicide Squad was anything more than a piece of runny dogshyt are probably the ones who are most vocal about their love of Bright.

But seriously, why are people caping for this so hard? b/c it's Will Smith? Who fukkin cares what people or critics say about this movie in particular. I can understand caping for something average like Justice League, b/c who the fukk doesn't want to see further adventures of the Justice League? Would the world be worse off if we didn't get an Orc cop cinematic universe? You have no investment in this movie.

Maybe I'm naive but I see it as an attack on films not being released theatricality more than Netflix, reviewers love Amazon flicks. Reviewers live and die by being able to see movies earlier than fans do on a big screen. Any other way and critics become useless.

Netflix have early screenings as well for critics. They invite ppl to their “home” style theater. It’s weird because they use surround sound, wide screen and high end displays even tho most homes don’t have that.

I hear ppl saying it’s an attack from Hollywood and I don’t buy into that. There are too many critics out there to get together and agree on a stance. Maybe they can get to the popular and mainstream critics but critics have had mixed reviews for movies in the past. I’ve seen some critics recommending bright like the verge.

paying 9.99 vs paying how ever much it is to go watch a movie at a theater near you.

look up how much they charge theaters to show a movie. thats why theater snacks and drinks costs so much.

if actors are going to netflix/hulu and shyt to make movies hollywood is fukked cus theaters will die out.

moviepass is more of a disrupt to the theater industry than Netflix. If anything theaters would dead their deal with moviepass before shytting on Netflix and the ceo of amc has said he has no problem with moviepass for now.

And I love Netflix but don’t forget there’s a good chance they’re gonna raise their price up once Disney drops their service. Netflix can’t keep pumping out 100 million dollar movies a few times a year to compete with studios while still creating original series and paying comedians like chappelle and seinfield 50 million for a couple of stand up shows at their current price. I think they’ll adjust their prices after hearing Disney’s subscription price.

There seems to be more critical and audience disagreement than ever on RT these days. Either it gets good critical reviews and poor audience scores (Star Trek Discovery, Star Wars The Last Jedi), or terrible critical reviews and high audience scores (The Orville, Bright).

I tend to agree more with the audience scores. I haven't seen Bright, but I adored The Orville and thought both Discovery and The Last Jedi were huge disappointments.
I didn't know the Orville got bad ratings by the critics. It is a solid show and definitely don't deserve a 20% on RT by the critics. That is why people don't take RT serious. It is like all the critics think the same and will pan a tv show or movie because everyone else does.

TV critics are even worst that movie critics because they mostly only look at only non-network TV shows. If a show is on network TV then they automatically ignore it. I am shocked when a see a network TV show in any of the critics top 10 of the year.

I saw it and I didn't like it. No Rotten Tomatoes score is gonna stop me from watching a movie. In fact I had to watch it myself because it was divided. Either it was a bad movie and the critics were right or there was conspiracy by Hollywood to spite Netflix and the movie was good.

People DO care what RT and other critics have to say, on certain movies: movies with big named actors, comic book movies and big franchises. Otherwise they don't make a big deal out of it. Fans and critics are the biggest enemies of movies and with Bright and Last Jedi recent skewed reviews from critics and fans, this proves it.
