I have no clue what your house is worth or how many bedrooms you have.

But nikka, $600??

A 5 bedroom house in Valdosta is 69k. That mortgage alone is probably around $380. With 5 rooms that’s about $75 a room. Let’s say that house had just two rooms. That’s still about $190. Tack on 50 for the extra bathroom, another $50 for utilities and another $50 just for your own profit.... I’m not getting anywhere near $600.

You said GA/FL border, something doesn’t add up. :patrice:

You got to give us some more details. It ain’t like Georgia ain’t known for its hustling ass nikkas.:mjpls:

Valdosta Ga lol.... :mjlol:

Dude that it's in the middle of Nowhere near the fla ga border

Ain't shyt there but high school football and boils peanuts

Breh I live near the coast ...20 minutes to the Beach to be exact just north of Duval....

That's why I charge what I charge

All this real estate along the golden isles is in demand amongst developers for condos and high end property and resorts

And it's full of industry....ole boy that was paying that 600$ rent to me loved it cause it was just 30 minutes away from his job at the nearby naval Base on the coast....

Even he said it was a damn good deal for this market

You got crakkkers all around me charging 800 or better for just one bedroom

So miss me with that I was overcharging him shyt
:camby:

You know nothing about the southeast Georgia market

I'm just saying we've always been dependent on their economy to go further in life. The scraps from the table of W.S.....now those scraps are getting fewer and farther in between.

False....that only applies if your on welfare.
First off we built the US economy. It's just as much ours as it is theirs. Its NEVER BEEN FREE LUNCH FOR US, at anytime, anything we got, we earned, it's just now, it has to be taken.

Ive heard from many people Atlanta job market is tough but I don't understand how someone has a finance degree and is flipping burgers. Something's not adding up. :patrice:
Add in that he HAD a decent job in finance, then the article just said "he lost it" without any of the details that were given like the rest of his story. Not saying it can't happen, I've seen it. But something isn't adding up with that story. I can say with certainty that depending on what area of finance he was in, your reputation will follow you moreso than others. How you lost a job strongly affects the next one you need. Especially in finance.

The football guy knows that it's about connections. The lady made the mistake I see a lot of people make and that's contract work. Essentially, temp work that becomes permanent. Itd be better to work in an entirely different field if you lose a good job than it is to do contract work regularly in that field because that will follow you and do you a great disservice. The problem is the contract work will pay more than the other field you get in to.

Yeah in a perfect world ....

You fail to realize WE AS BLACK FOLKS DONT OWN SHYT

But real talk.. N1GGAS IS NOT LOOKING OUT FOR EACH OTHER in the Corporate World and professional fields

Even in the so called "Black Mecca"

Only time Nikkas come together is when it's time to PARTY (get lit) or GET SOME PUZZY or you can FEED THEM

Unless you "they cousin" or frat brother (alpha..sigma..qdog..pha) or part of an association I.e (100 black men)

A n1gga in the A ain't trying to empower you
:rudy:

In 2019 it's a GET IT HOW U LIVE mentally

Same with the byatches ...I kept telling my ex she needs to network better join an association or something...cause being a OUTSIDER with no connections is gonna be rough for her

She didn't listen and her college educated azz ended up in a extemded stay hotel

You gotta be diverse

At the end of the day it's still a white man's world

Don't know too many black folks that are REAL OWNERS OR BOSSES In the corporate world...I learned that...

All my HBCU alumnus who are eating got

I find out really got plugged in by WHITE FOLK
:manny:

Even myself I remember sending my resume multiple times to this same firm I work with based out of Cobb County (ATL metro)

NEVER GOT A RESPONSE

just happen to meet a WHITE guy whose son was in the same grade as my son and they played sports together

Come to find out he was in the same hunting club with the Lead Engineer of this same firm I applied to unsuccessfuly

Within a week I had a fukking job interview
:beli:

Like I said it's not What YOU KNOW

ITS WHO YOU KNOW:win:

Man to keep it real its all about networking period even for the white boys (white girls too).

And to keep it funky with you the white boys network even harder. They bold with that shyt. Mothafukkas will go to church with a dude find out he a manager or director and offer to wash dudes car. Or offer to work on his car or mow his lawn for free and etc. Next thing you know that white dude got a high paying job where the manager/director works at.

Second I haven't seen here where I work (dallas) that black professionals aren't helping each other. IMO the problems arise depending on the market. So if you in the private sector. They ain't trying to hire a bunch of black folks even if you a black manager they gonna put an end to that shyt.

But if your ass in defense or government work a brotha and sista have a far easier time getting black folks on. shyt when I worked in DoD I couldn't tell you how many times I seen black managers or directors or regular employees get black folks on.

shyt my boy in DCMA here in Dallas. His manager a sister who a delta. She done messed around set up most of her team with black folks.

You see the same in not for profit where a lot of times black folks hirer their friends.

But like I said in government work, DoD and not for profit its different. Especially cause when times good you got to hirer minorities to get them contracts.

Some of y’all are delusional about how easy it is to get up and move.

Finance dude was in the industry in ATL so he has put down permanent roots. If he were fresh out of school with a year or two, sure.

After a decade, certain jobs don’t want to pay ten years of experience what he’s worth. Plus expense of moving. Charlotte business knows it can get those fresh out of school or already in Charlotte for way less hassle.

This is funny to me because literally everybody I know that moved down there eventually came back because they couldn’t find decent work. I tell them the same shyt I tell y’all, if you can’t make money and stay out of nonsense in Chicago then anywhere else won’t be any different.

nikkas visit ATL and see / hear how cheap it is to live out in area but COL doesn’t matter if you aren’t making any real money.

Yeah I say the same shyt about all the transplants that move here, minimum wage is minimum wage no matter where you at. Move here so you can blow all your money you saving on rent on the loud and bytches.

Unemployed ATL transplant. Got fired because I wasn't a good "cultural fit".

Bachelors and some grad school. Been sending out apps all month 24/7. Only two calls from BS recruiters. I had to take my pic off LinkedIn just in case.

It might be time to move back home. These cacs are really trying to phase us out. Yet my Mexican neighbors seem to be chillin. :manny:

As a native who's seen the traffic become ridiculous over the last 20 years, I say keep the negative articles coming...But seriously, there are plenty of $50k - $100K opportunities for those with skilled trades like electricians and plumbers. Unfortunately though, when it comes to higher-paying white-collar positions, the open positions are rarer, plus, despite the credentials there are the prejudices we have to compete with. Then you have the demographics within the pool of candidates and the odds are out of favor.

If one is looking for a career in a specific field because of their degrees, they need to rethink it. I went to school for business, but outside of short internship, I've never used it. I've been exclusively in the environmental field for 15 years and make good money.

This is the new economy after the 08 recession. Atlanta never really recovered.

More competition with everybody going to the same cities —- It’s never gonna go back to the old days so you gotta adapt and not listen to old folks who still think it’s 1995 :francis:
Same thing is going to happen to Nashville. Got offered a gig their and quickly turned it down. Cost of living is skyrocketing and wages aren’t keeping up Only going to get worse with tech companies moving in.

Plus, as I’ve quoted my uncle in here plenty of times “Atlanta is a dream. Folks move here and think they’re going to magically live the life. All they see is the nite life. Go downtown or Buckhead to the parts where it matters during the day and that’ll tell you who runs this city”

He should have moved to Chicago, NY or London and made some good bucks and then moved back to ATL.

Ain’t no way I’m going to a good school and flipping burgers after. I refuse.

But I don’t want to sound ignorant. I don’t know his ultimate situation.

Hell just buy a car and do Uber

I called in sick for work one day and just did Uber for the day and made 200 yeah it sucked and was annoying driving for like 9 hrs with a few breaks in between but it’s bettee than flipping burgers

As a person from the bolded, you hustling backwards if you relocate there. Small town GA with old long money who aren’t trying to modernize and bring in jobs worth a fukk. My old man relocated there to help out my aunt for a hot sec and the best he could do with 2 Masters in the health field was a gig working at a hotel because that’s all that’s there. Any other gig that pays a sizable wage, old boy system already has who they want plugged in. He/she leaves, next friend up. The cost of a home ain’t worth it to stay there. You can rent out your home to a student at VSU or your best bet, get a job on the Air Force base but they start shaking in their boots whenever BRAC hearings start up

Great article, keeps things in perspective. Never think this can’t happen to you. It’s definitely all about who you know, so I make sure I network my ass off. I work In The banking field but have relationships with executives of the biggest banks in the country and they constantly try to recruit me. My clients are executives from major companies and law firms and I take them out for drinks and food every once in a while to keep my name fresh in their memory. And like someone said, you need some WHITE PEOPLE connections cause they will put you on like a muthafukka. I know you coli militants ain’t down for that though :yeshrug:

Something went wrong in the first persons story. That hard drop had to be from something he did. That’s the beginning of a crackhead story if I ever heard of one. Like the father from “The Corner” on HBO who had his shyt together and his wife turned him onto drugs and he lost everything.
