yeah due to less competition. if simply becoming a pro athlete is your thing then yeah you are right, but American soccer is like the WOAT on the global scale lol

Its getting better though. You remember how shyt it used to be????

I remember when Beckham came to the Galaxy... shyt was hard to watch.

Not Beckham though, his play was immaculate, but watching how frustrated he got when he realized that Americans had no idea how to play soccer... that was painful.

For starters he didn't do this whole 1. touch to receive 2. touch to space 3. touch for momentum 4. touch to cross the ball. Nope, he received a ball and played it towards the backpost with the very next action.

I cannot stress enough how foreign this was to the MLS. There was NO ONE capable of playing an accurate ball from midfield to the opposite 18 in 2 touches IN THE ENTIRE MLS besides Beckham. Not. One. Single. Person.

So Americans naturally had no idea that instead of hovering near midfield, they should be making a mad dash towards the opposite touchline the moment your winger received the ball.

I know this sounds basic to anyone who has played but if you watched MLS back then (as I did) you would remember that this shyt literally never happened. Wing offense did not exist in the MLS. Offense was the old Bruce Arena, single-striker, skip the midfield and pray for a Brian McBride miracle header offense.

Beckham's existence in the MLS changed it for the better.

AND NOW.....

WE HAVE THE LION :blessed:

no bullshyt this was one of the most entertaining matches i've seen in the past 2 years... in any league.

Its getting better, slowly but surely its getting better

It means they cant make money off the backs of players...

that would probably open the flood gates for all sports. Now that I think about it, I wonder what the biggest contracts have been for say a US HS player going overseas to play basketball? I know places like China spends good money on former NBA players but not sure about the other cases.

I never studied soccer honestly, if my people weren't Liberian (Weah Da GOAT) then I probably would have no connection to it. When I think about my family and friends of family all of us who were 1st gen American were great athletes but did football or b ball.

Its funny because outside the US and Canada soccer is a sport for poor people cuz it is really cheap to play. All u need is a ball and an open space
Really gives you perspective as to how American cacs can take some shyt and flip it upside down on some gentrification shyt. Have you lookin at your shyt like you never been there before, I.e. rock music.

I know technical ability is more favored over athletic ability in soccer, I just want to know if Brazil really changed their development style and if so why when they had previous great success with their old model system?

They are the most successful country in the sport by far and gave soccer the GOAT player

They will figure it out soon enough and start to dominate again ...

Lemme put it this way.

It would be like if American football got big in England right.
And then a retired, 40yr old Aaron Rodgers comes out of retirement to play for NFL Europe.:smugfavre:

And then he steps on the field in his first play he throws it 40yr down the field and all his recievers look at him like.... :damn:

But its an incomplete pass because none of them ran their routes more than 20 yards downfield.:snoop:

And Aaron is like... "Why aren't ya'll running??? :dwillhuh:"

And they are like "Why you throwing the ball so far and so fast? We weren't ready :gucci:"

And then the media is like "Aaron's completion rate is lower than it ever was in America, maybe he's not all that good :francis:"

And he's just standing there like... "These mfers aint even running to the ball :dwillhuh:"

That's exactly what happened with Beckham in the US.

He was playing balls to where they were supposed to be, and they would turn around and look at him like... "I wasn't ready :gucci:"

I had "if blacks started playing soccer they'd take over the sport" arguments with my nigerian friends since 99 :snoop:
It's never going to happen brehs, just too much of a cultural shift imo.
I had a good run stanning Demarcus Beasley for a couple years but it is what it is

Your team is down 0-3 and you come in and score 2 goals on your debut game?

What a feeling that must be :wow:

We used to have a Bob Bradley as a manager for the Fire and that style worked for the first 3 years he was here. That said, fukk the Fire for ruining Accam and Sean Johnson. They should've played in Europe:mjcry:
