Football in the US doesn't seem to be a working class sport like the rest of the world. Looks like an hobby for rich kids for the most part.

I had "if blacks started playing soccer they'd take over the sport" arguments with my nigerian friends since 99 :snoop:
It's never going to happen brehs, just too much of a cultural shift imo.
I had a good run stanning Demarcus Beasley for a couple years but it is what it is

did you really say nobody cares about baseball in this country?

i got a Hawks avy but baseball my favorite sport. My little cousin play HS baseball in Clay Co and he been playing since he was like 7. I go to a few of his games and his team is all black and all the teams he play against are all black. Every time I go to his house him and his friends are playing MLB The Show. Its going to take soccer a long ass time to catch up to baseball.

It was a rite of passage for every little boy to play rec baseball growing up. I still see little kids in their uniforms. Soccer rec leagues are few and far between here in Atlanta, and most of the times they are in wealthy, majority white areas.

Yes
its is a fact that baseball's popularity is declining. look at the graphic or use google to find more sources

Football is #1 in the US
basketball will overtake baseball if it hasn't already

the only people that care about baseball are old, or from the non English/French speaking Caribbean.

this is a got damn lie.
plenty of young folks of all races love baseball.

bout to watch the Braves as I type :blessed:

Redan high on the eastside is predominately black and has been (or was) a baseball powerhouse for years.

A team-by-team list of African-American MLB players
Between 1946 and 1950, all three major professional sports had desegregated, and the total percentage of black players was less than 3 percent. In 2017, 75 percent of the NBA and 64 percent of the NFL players are black, but only 7.7 percent of MLB players are black.

Miller Grove and Lithonia are the best teams over there now..and Langston Huges on the southside is ranked in the top 10 in the state..plenty of brehs love and still play baseball. Im guessing its cause of the Braves and the success they have had

i just moved to the DC area. i only ever see whites wearing Nationals gear and going to their games. in NJ only white people and Dominicans/Ricans/Mexicans/some South Americans play it.

I assume Miller Grove probably ate into Redans pool of talent, because it didn't exist until what 06 or something? Or there could have been some redistricting (or recruiting) going on because Lithonia high used to be trash at everything.

Dude you know I know all of that but they brought Pele over in 1974 to play in a league that that was supposed to be a tipping point yet here we are.

Point being this isn’t new. I’m enjoying getting into the game via United as much as anyone but before we start claiming an incoming wave let’s look at the history.
This time its different.

The MLS didn't even start until 1994.

It was like that even before the Braves got good I think. Rec league sports and later HS sports are huge in Atlanta. Weather is good 10 mos out the year so you can have the kids in Football/soccer in the fall, b-ball in the winter and track or baseball in the spring and sports camp in the summer. I think it just gets lost how big home grown talent is in sports because our pro teams are so trash. I knew a couple of brehs who took baseball very seriously growing up too. Not at white schools either. Doug High, NAH type cats. And you already mentioned them powerhouses over east like Redan and Miller Grove

I didn't say it wasn't, i just dont feel like soccer cost a disproportionate amount compared to other club/AAU/travel teams.

If you said "club sports in general cost alot" then I would have agreed.
But you made it seem like club soccer was a special case

Club teams always were on some OTHER shyt where I was from. Those boys were banking.

we're talking camps, gear, all the top notch kits, etc.

All the clubs I knew of were damn near private golf club status.

It was some elite shyt.

Clarkston became heavily international in the late 90s and most of the white kids ended up going to Tucker. i think the first wave of Immigrants were the Bosnian, then the Ethiopians, Somalians, South Sudanese, then the Iraqis and now a lot of South East asians are there now.
Bosnias? From the 90s? Thats interesting....
